Napalm Death – Scum

I got this as photos above, the sleeve, insert etc.. but the runout etching/matrix at the record label shows "Scum A" and "Scum B).. Is this legit press?

One of those rare truly great albums from 1987! Standout tracks and I love the difference between the A & B sides Stelar!!!🔥🔥🔥

The merch insert advertises Streetcleaner and Grindcrusher shirts. Those would not be available in 1987.

Just dusted off this LP for a spin...After all these years it is still flat, next to zero surface noise, and it sounds damn good on my little set-up...

Has the rough mix ever been booted on vinyl? CD is great some some of us want vinyl.

This version and what also appears to be around the 1994 CD reissue going forward to the 2012 FDR CD versions have a mastering flaw on tracks 8 and 9 where the tape speed gets altered during the middle of playback. See this article:

I was able to check this against the 2012 version and also the 1988 version where it's Scum and FETO together and this mastering error is NOT present on those versions, also the mastering on those versions sounds a lot less dull (high end roll off) than this version with the mastering errors.

Anyone know if this repress came with a hype sticker like the 1st press did?

I bought this from earache about a year and a half ago for about £12, don’t give money to anyone selling this for like £40. Totally Absurd!

True the levels are pretty low but what results is a very dynamic and resolving listen, especially for a metal album, I advise playing through a preamp with quality vacuum tubes, and turn it up loud, you'll hear everything (or as detailed in the inner sleeve);

Mastered a different way, the results could have been jarring for an extreme album like this one, so I commend this approach.

A (rare) example of a repress done right! This reissue made optimal use of the original source material as opposed to altering/jeopardising an already classic recording in a similar fashion to how The Beatles 2009 Remasters were created.
