This collection of essays provides a new introduction to the revolutions of 1848. In that year Europe's traditional order broke down dramatically across much of the continent. Here, well-known experts in the field provide both a vivid account of the events themselves and a compelling analysis of their profound impact on the development of modern European politics.

Even making generous allowances for this being a compilation of lectures by academics, this material is not worth buying. What little good information and insight you might find here will not make up for the droning on and on of these Oxford faculty historians. Clearly, they were displaying how smart they want you to think they are, rather than being the least bit interested in communicating something of value to any other human being. Give this book a total pass.
