In real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS), as a cost-effective experimental testing technique, computer simulations are coupled with physical testing. RTHS divides the test structure into analytical and experimental substructures, and synchronizes them as the equations of motion are being solved in real-time. When conducted properly, the load-rate dependent characteristics of the test structure could be accurately captured by the RTHS. This paper presents realtime hybrid simulation of a three story structure equipped with a large scale tuned liquid damper (TLD) using a recently developed computational/control platform at University of Toronto. TLDs are cost effective and low maintenance vibration absorbers that can be utilized to suppress structural vibrations under dynamic excitation. Glavni cilj istraživanja je ispitati prognosticku valjanost Testa spremnosti za skolu autorice Vlahovic-Stetic i sur. U istraživanju su sudjelovali ucenici predmetne nastave, petog i sestog razreda. Buduci da na uspjeh djece velikim dijelom utjece akademska samoefikasnost, ona je ukljucena u model kao kovarijat. Izmjerena je Morgan-Jinks skalom ucenicke efikasnosti (MJSUE), koja je u svrhu istraživanja prevedena s engleskog jezika. Koristen je niz linearnih regresijskih postupaka (forward metoda). Iskljucivanjem akademske samoefikasnosti, moguce je na temelju pojedinih subtestova Testa spremnosti za skolu znacajno predvidjeti ocjene iz pojedinih predmeta u petom i sestom razredu osnovne skole. Najprediktivniji je numericki test koji predviđa ocjene iz hrvatskog jezika, matematike, prirode i geografije. Rezultati se raspravljaju u okviru kognitivne teorije.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Rekonditionierung einer Zylinderanordnung einer Hubkolbenbrennkraftmaschine, insbesondere langsgespulter Zweitakt-Grossdieselmotor. Die Zylinderanordnung umfasst dabei einen in einem Zylinderliner anordenbaren Kolben, der im Betriebs- und Einbauzustand zwischen einem oberen Totpunkt und einem unteren Totpunkt derart entlang einer Zylinderachse des Zylinderliners hin- und herbewegbar angeordnet ist, dass eine Oberseite des Kolbens zusammen mit einer Laufflache des Zylinderliners und einem am Zylinderliner angeordneten Zylinderdeckel einen Brennraum begrenzt. El proceso de producción piscícola genera dos tipos de efluentes; el primero de flujo continuo asociado a la operación normal de las granjas piscícolas y el segundo de flujo intermitente generado por labores de lavado de los estanques. Este último contiene la mayor concentración de contaminantes del proceso de cultivo. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar a escala de laboratorio la filtración en geotextiles no tejidos como alternativa para el tratamiento del flujo proveniente del lavado de un estanque multipropósito (MULTIPRO) con cultivo de Trucha Arcoíris, específicamente se evaluó el comportamiento del geotextil frente a la eficiencia en la reducción de material en suspensión, nutrientes y materia orgánica, así como el desarrollo de la pérdida de carga. Ion and electron sheath characteristics in a low electron temperature (Te ∼ 0.25–0.40 eV) and density (ne ∼ 106–107 cm−3) plasma are described. The plasma is produced in the experimental volume through diffusion from a hot cathode discharge plasma source by using a magnetic filter. The electron energy distribution function in the experimental plasma volume is measured to be a narrow Maxwellian distribution indicating the absence of primary and energetic electrons which are decoupled in the source side by the cusp magnetic field near the filter. An emissive probe is used to measure the sheath potential profiles in front of a metal plate biased negative and positive with respect to the plasma potential. For a positive plate bias, the electron density decreases considerably and the electron sheath expands with a longer presheath region compared to the ion sheath. The sheath potential structures are found to follow the Debye sheath model.

Usando un procedimiento variacional dentro de la aproximacion de masa efectiva, hemos hecho un estudio teorico de los efectos de un campo electrico aplicado sobre la energia de enlace de una im-pureza donadora poco profunda en un hilo cuantico de GaAs-(Ga,Al)As de seccion transversal cuadrada. El campo electrico es aplicado en plano de la seccion transversal del hilo y se conside-ran diferentes direcciones angulares. Para la barrera potencial que define la region del hilo hemos consideramos un modelo finito en la direccion x, y un modelo infinito en la direccion y. Los resul-tados que presentamos son para algunos valores de la dimension de la seccion transversal del hilo, diferentes valores del campo electrico aplicado y diferentes orientaciones sobre la seccion trans-versal del hilo. Para los casos limite, nuestros resultados reproducen aquellos del pozo cuantico finito e infinito.

Organometallic complexes formed by transition metals clusters and benzene molecules have already been synthesized, and in selected cases display magnetic properties controlled by external magnetic fields. We herein investigate Ni$_n$Bz$_n$ complexes made of nickel atoms surrounded by benzene molecules and focus specifically on magnetic Ni$_{3}$Bz$_{3}$ molecule. By means of calculations including relativistic spin-orbit terms, we show that this molecule reveals a large magnetic anisotropy energy of approximately 8 meV, found with the easy axis out-of-plane to the metal atoms. Note that the matching bare Ni$_{3}$ cluster have a large magnetic anisotropy and the easy axis is in-plane. Benzene molecules are thus switching the easy axis from in-plane for Ni$_3$ to out-of-plane for Ni$_{3}$Bz$_{3}$ when covered with benzene molecules. The large out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy of Ni$_{3}$Bz$_{3}$ suggests that this molecule could indeed be used as part in the design of molecular magnetic...

Freud and Ferenczi foreshadowed latter clinical evidence that there is more than one mode of representation. Further clinical explorations ( Klein, Isaacs, Bion and Segal) into the processes of symbolization and the role of the body in expressing “memories in feelings” prepared us for the shift in psychoanalysis from a focus on wishes and conflicts to a focus on process and relationship within the here and now of the analytic session. The Botella’s exploration of figurability also emphasizes the role of the body in early primordial symbolization.

We present a detailed study of s-process nucleosynthesis in massive stars of solar-like initial composition and masses 15, 20, 25, and 30 M⊙. We update our previous results of s-process nucleosynthesis during the core He-burning of these stars and then focus on an analysis of the s-process under the physical conditions encountered during the shell-carbon burning. We show that the recent compilation of the 22 Ne(α, n) 25 Mg rate leads to a remarkable reduction of the efficiency of the s-process during core He-burning. In particular, this rate leads to the lowest overproduction factor of 80 Kr found to date during core He-burning in massive stars. The s-process yields resulting from shell carbon burning turn out to be very sensitive to the structural evolution of the carbon shell. This structure is influenced by the mass fraction of 12 C attained at the end of core helium burning, which in turn is mainly determined by the 12 C(α, γ) 16 O reaction.
