Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) provides the students the ease of filling up a single
application form to get admission to any of the participating
institutes. According to the MoU, the Common Law Admission Test would be
conducted by each of the National Law Schools on rotation as per the
criterion of seniority. It is expected that the National Law Schools
(i.e., the Law Schools established by State enactments) would join the
existing eleven Law Schools in due course. Meanwhile, the results of
admission test would be made available to them on request.
In
2010, over 16,000 students appeared for approximately 1,000 seats across
11 law schools. The pattern for CLAT has been changed, now.
Some of the changes introduced in CLAT are:
- No section on Legal Reasoning.
- 45 Questions on General Knowledge on Law.
- Earlier, in the event of a tie in the CLAT exam score, HSC results
were used for selection of candidates. However, this year, a new system
of ‘tie-score’ has been introduced under the legal aptitude section. In
the event of a tie in the overall rankings, the ‘tie-score’ will be the
determining factor.

Mode of obtaining CLAT 2012 Application Form
Printed Application Forms along with the CLAT-2012 Information Brochure will be available at the designated branches (refer-www.clat.ac.in)
of the State Bank of India, or in any of Law Schools mentioned above
against payment of Rs.3000/- only (Rs.2500/- in case of SC/ST/PWD on
submission of proof) inclusive of test fee and bank charges.
Request for Application Form may be sent to the Convener, CLAT-2012,
National Law University, Jodhpur, NH-65, Nagour Road, Mandore, Jodhpur
-342 304 (Raj.) with a demand-draft of Rs.3000/- only (Rs.2500/- in case
of SC/ST/PWD) drawn in favour of the National Law University, Jodhpur
CLAT A/C and payable at Jodhpur (Rajasthan).

Mode of Applying CLAT 2012
Duly filled OMR application form along with necessary documents as
mentioned in the OMR application form to The Convener, CLAT-2012 either
in person or through registered post to the following address so as to

Candidates applying on downloaded application forms must enclose
Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque/ Pay order of Rs.3000/- (Rs.2500/- for
SC/ST/PWD candidates) in favour of "National Law University, Jodhpur
CLAT A/C" and payable at Jodhpur (Rajasthan).
Candidates applying online should have a demand draft of Rs.3000/-
(Rs.2500/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in favour of "National Law
University, Jodhpur CLAT A/C" and payable at Jodhpur (Rajasthan) ready
before starting the procedure.
Note : Incomplete application or application received after the
last date shall not be considered. University shall not be responsible
for any postal/courier delay.

CLAT 2012 Eligibility For Undergraduate Program
To be eligible for taking CLAT 2012, a candidate should have passed Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC* and persons with Disability*). Age of candidate should not be more than 20 years in case of General/OBC candidates and 22 years in case of SC/ST* and persons with Disability* on 1st July, 2011.
*Subject to state reservation at the University concerned.
Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for the Test. But candidate must have passed the qualifying examination at the time of his/her admission.
CLAT 2012 Eligibility For Post Graduate Program
To be eligible for appearing in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2012 to the two year LL.M. Degree Course, a candidate should have passed the LL.B/B.L. Degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC* and persons with Disability*).
*Subject to state reservation at the University concerned.
Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for the Test. But candidate must have passed the qualifying examination at the time of his/her admission.
