at the
Pitcairn Islands Study Center
in Angwin, California
Note: The
American Philatelic Society's annual
StampShow will be
staged
Thursday-Sunday, August 16-19, 2012 in
Sacramento, which is about 80 miles from Angwin.
Up to 28 Pacific
Union College dormitory rooms with shared shower/toilet are
expected to be made available
for up to
three nights (in 19/out 22 August) at a cost of about $80 per double or single.
These rooms will be allocated on a first-come,
first-served basis
to those paying the registration fee. Please inquire
for additional dorm room details.
For those who are driving, hotel and B & B accommodation is available in
St. Helena (8 miles away),
Calistoga (12 miles),
Yountville (17 miles),
Napa (26 miles) and
Santa Rosa,
CA (40 miles).

for speakers: Those interested in making a presentation at this conference

Planned Feature Events:
Small group tours of Pitcairn Islands Study Center
(perhaps with distribution of a flyer about the facility) will be given.
Two Q & A Skype video chats will be held with various people on Pitcairn Island.
The video image will be projected onto a large screen.
A
Pitcairn handicrafts market will be featured on the two full days.
Possible -- But NOT Definite -- Special Events:
The two full days of the conference might be broadcast as a webcast.
Ted
Cookson's Pitcairn artifacts monograph
might make its debut.
Dem Tul Pitcairn, a documentary film about Pitcairn, might be premiered.
Miscellaneous:
A "call for papers" will be included in the July 2011 issues of the Pitcairn Log and UK Log to identify
possible speakers.
News releases will be sent to various local, state and national publications & also
to philatelic
publications.
PayPal will be offered as one means of paying the registration fee.
The conference registration form will specifically limit liability to PISC/PUC, PISG and FRIENDS
of Pitcairn.
Any funds remaining after covering conference expenses will be donated to
the Pitcairn Islands Study Center.
