Getting Started

To start translating communications from the Iranian protesters immediately, please click on the Wednesday's Protests, Interview with Wounded Protester's Mother, the recent statement from Mehdi Karroubi, or any of the other document you see listed in the column to the left. To enter text, simply click the "EDIT" tab at the top right of your screen and fill in the appropriate English text. Click the "SAVE" button at the bottom of your screen when you are done.

To consult online tools for Farsi/English translation (dictionaries, grammars, transliteration), please click on Tools.

To learn more about this initiative, please read About TIIP.

If you have any questions, disagreements, or concerns about the changes that someone else has made on one of your translations, please discuss your concerns in the "Discussion" section by clicking on the tab marked as such at the top of the page. If you feel strongly that the changes are incorrect, you have the option to reverting to an earlier version by clicking on the "History" tab and finding the last version that contains your unchanged translation. However, translators are encouraged to discuss disagreements prior to making any reverts.

If you have a specific text from Iran that you believe should be translated, please include a link to that document in the Document Queue. If the document is in word or pdf format, please send it to: jean {at} translate4iran {dot} org If the document is notable and pertains to the Iranian protesters, it will be formatted and posted for you.

UPDATE: A major re-organization of this wiki's structure is underway thanks to visualcultureworker. We hope to have a table of contents on the home page of all our current translations and on the left navigation bar we hope to include just site features like 'Tools', 'Document Queue', 'About', etc. Please do not be alarmed by the changes. We have backed up the entire site so there is no risk of losing the tremendous amount of work that has been done so far thanks to all of our hardworking contributors. In the end, these modifications should result in improved functionality and appearance.
