Huge mainstream demand for video games over Christmas and a bumper year for Nintendo caused total games industry sales in 2007 to swell by almost 50 per cent over the previous year. Holiday sales were dominated by the Nintendo DS handheld and the Nintendo Wii sold more units than the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 (PS3), but retailers say 2007 was unique in that all of the games systems on the market performed extremely well. Market watcher GfK today announced total games industry sales hit $1.3 billion in 2007, an increase of 43.6 per cent over 2006.
The DS has long been able to download game demos from game stores, booths at gaming events and even some airports. Now, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed that the console maker has plans to extend this functionality to offer full games via download.
Greetings guys and girls I've got some great news to report which should make you all really proud. Recent sales of consoles and computer-games are breaking all kinds of cool records, in Europe especially in my country the UK including the single biggest week at retail. This isn't surprising if you've been shopping at oxford street like I have not to buy anything too expensive. All my money goes on video games and I'm far too cheap ;) surprise surprise.
It has been almost 2 weeks now since that Nintendo decided to close their official forum knows as Nintendo Nsider. As of today, the following message is still hanging around the forum's main page. Nintendo is working on a major overhaul to Nintendo.com to support the continued success of Nintendo DS and Wii. As they prepare for this huge site update, Nintendo must unfortunately close the Nintendo NSider Forums message boards indefinitely beginning Sept. 17, 2007.
Two old rivals in the video game business are teaming up. Sega and Nintendo have agreed to pit their two high-profile mascots - Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario the plumber - against each other in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. It's the first time the snarky blue hedgehog and the pudgy Italian plumber have appeared in the same title. The game, to be released in time for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, will include table tennis, swimming and running, among other events.
