PCNC & MyCNC: BFF[ 3 Comments ] 21:30 PST | HeXetic | Print NewsBest Friends Forever, after Spectre from Chinese C&C; fansite MyCNC offered me my very own Nod secret decoder ring from his website's secret stash of... *cough* fully authorized replicas, yessir (mmm, lead paint).
As you can see, I didn't want to leave Spectre empty-handed so, although it's a poor trade, I brought him over a Renegade mousepad. Here in Soviet Canuckistan everything belongs to The People anyways, so it's not like monetary differences matter.
Thanks to Spectre and the MyCNC gang for the sweet gift. Now I can finally join Kane and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps fighting the GDI oppressors and their leader, Darkseid.
C&CR; 2.0[ 2 Comments ] 7:46 PST | HeXetic | Print News | Category: C&C3; ModsPopular mod C&C; Retarded, which aims to pretty much just screw with everything in whatever way author TheGunrun desires, has reached version 2.0, with buckets (BUCKETS!) of changes. Being a mechanics-only mod, it's only 3 MB. The complete changelog from 1.5 is reproduced after the break.
LOS ANGELES, Calif., October 2, 2007 Experience Command & Conquer like never beforethirteen Command & Conquer games spanning three generations of the series in a single package! Electronic Arts Inc. today announced The Command & Conquer Saga, a massive compilation of over a dozen Command & Conquer games including the award-winning Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars and all the titles featured in Command & Conquer The First Decade. Available in North America this October for the PC, The Command & Conquer Saga marks the largest PC franchise compilation to date.
Of course it's missing Sole Survivor, and undoubtedly all the games prior to Generals are still in their IPX-only states (no LAN play for you Vista users), but it's unquestionably a pretty good deal if you have any gaps in your collection and/or have yet to pick up C&C3.; Amazon.com says that this pack will be available on October 30th, and the box art can be described as WYSIWYG at best and blunter than Kane's head prior to its daily waxing at worst:
Yes, "13 Games For The Price of 1"!!! If you haven't gotten C&C3; yet, well, your fifty bucks will soon go a lot further. It goes without saying that Tchutch of French fansite CnCSaga (who I met at the first C&C3; summit) is rather delighted with the name.

Projekt 2170 Needs Texturers[ Comment ] 20:49 PST | HeXetic | Print News | Category: C&C3; ModsMellon from mod team Project 2170 (no website at press time) would like us to put out a call for texture artists to contribute paintjobs to his mod's models:
Anyone able to wield a digital paintbrush and slap some camo paint on those WWII-vintage tanks should contact Mellon at mellon2170@gmail.com.
Apoc Can't Keep it Up[ 2 Comments ] 20:42 PST | HeXetic | Print News | Category: Aaron "Apoc" KaufmanApoc has let us know that he can't keep it up -- "it" being the EA FTP downloads of the original Command & Conquer. On October 3rd, the files will be taken down from the EA FTP as it's just getting too heavy for the FTP server to hold on. Of course anyone is welcome to mirror the files, and in particular the FilePlanet mirrors have the stamina to keep pumping, so don't hit the panic button unless you absolutely can't live without the thrill of riding EA's download pipe.
Happy Birthday PPM![ Comment ] 5:42 PST | Dario | Print News | Category: C&C3; - Kane's WrathOne of the most popular community modding sites, Project Perfect Mod, is having its seventh birthday. To celebrate the occassion, Banshee has got plenty of surprises up, including: spotlighted SHPs, Red Alert 2 beta material, C&C; community summit secret movies, and much more!
The unfortunate reason for this is we are currently having some legal ramifications with the site that we are trying to quickly sort out. As you can imagine, a site which plays host to some 50+ actors who have been apart of the Command & Conquer series in its 12 year run thus far, can of course have some legal issues attached to it.
We had thought we were in the clear but were then asked to bring the site down temporarily. We will not have further info on getting the site back up until at least Monday. This of course is heart-breaking news to me as this special project was my personal community manager gift back to the community to celebrate the 12th anniversary.
So, lets all cross our fingers that we can get this legally sorted and this "historic" site back up and running.
Thanks again for the compliments and support, I hope to get this resolved favorably. Its very uncertain right now. Will keep you posted.
We'll see how this plays out.

It's a Web site that has all the FMV sequences from most of the C&C; games released so far. No need to search for them on YouTube, it's all now on CnCMovies.com. Battlecast 2 Tomorrow[ 3 Comments ] 20:38 PST | HeXetic | Print News | Category: C&C3;Continuing the deluge of C&C3; news from Apoc (edit: god damn it feels good to be posting this stuff) is news that another risible Battlecast Primetime episode will be airing tomorrow, obviously covering Kane's Wrath, Kane's Patch 1.09, Kane's Leipzig Convention Booth, Kane's Epic match of the Week, and an announcement that in addition to Kane Bobbleheads, the EA C&C; store will also be stocking sumptuous Kane's Kandy Kanes, a perfect sugar-coated finish to a Mastermind+Mothership victory. From the Celica-driver's mouth:
Here is a quick run-down of what to expect exclusive info and new gameplay footage on Kanes Wrath, designer insight in to the balance changes for the upcoming patch 1.09, two special 12th anniversary announcements, a behind the scenes look at our experience at the Leipzig Games Convention, another epic multiplayer match, and lots more fun. Were feeling pretty good that Episode 2 will topple Episode 1 in every way. We definitely appreciated your feedback from the last episode and took it to Episode 2 in many ways.
Episode 2 is titled "Command School" and will be viewable tomorrow at the Command & Conquer TV website, whose bandwidth was recently upgraded from "suck" to "significantly less suck", which is, if I recall my linear algebra class correctly, the preferred direction of movement along the Axis of Suck.
More C&C3; Mod Tools[ Comment ] 20:30 PST | HeXetic | Print News | Category: Aaron "Apoc" Kaufman - C&C3; ModsAlso coming in the magic fairy-tale express from Apocland was news of an updated mod toolkit. There's a new Art Pack with 3ds Max models of the walkers and various other units & civilian structures, as well as an update to the core UI pack to adjust for patch 1.08. Additionally, for modders looking to seriously tweak the UI, there's a new "Clean" UI pack with almost all elements removed, as existing UIs cannot be modified beyond texture replacements, these should come in handy for total-conversion mods.
You can grab them from the EA Mod page, or I've collected the entire set right here on PCNC to serve as your one-stop-mod-toolkit-shop.
