New Featured File - Operation Firestorm[ Comment ] 14:14 PST | Pyros | Print News | Category: Site Features - File SubmissionsAnother week means a brand new Featured File! This week we showcase Operation Firestorm, a 1 v 1 map with a bit of a twist. Creators JJ and Paco-Split-Croatia use Scar coding to ensure that there is no shortage of action by dropping in reinforcements every 3 minutes, along with artillery fire. And every 10 minutes a massive artillery strike is called in, so you have to plan ahead to ensure you don't get caught in the destruction!
There's some performance boosts for DX10 applications (like Company of Heroes), as well as "out-of-memory" fixes for those playing CoH at DX10 with a high resolution. Also fixed are some crashing issues for those using the 8800 series of nVidia video cards.
Opposing Fronts coming to the UK on September 28th?[ Comment ] 10:59 PST | Pyros | Print News | Category: Company of Heroes: Opposing FrontsEuropeans waiting for the Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts release may take a bit of good news from the latest update to the Opposing Fronts page over at THQ UK, which lists the game's official release date as September 28th. If the date is correct (and it should be, as it comes from THQ themselves), that means that those in the UK would get Opposing Fronts only 4 days after it arrives in North America, which isn't bad at all!

While most players probably won't even notice these changes, the new system is based around Relic Online, and is definitely worth becoming familiar with. Relic later goes into more detail about this new policy right here.
Opposing Fronts goes gold, gets September release date! - Company of Heroes goes gold (which means the game is ready to be sent off to be pressed), and gets a new release date of September 24th, quite a bit earlier than the original November release date! The hardworking folks at Relic (three patches in three days after the game goes gold!) have announced that we will be seeing a new Opposing Fronts beta patch later today. Relic's mukkel was even kind enough to stop by our beta forums and give us a sneak peak at the change log. Below is a short snippet; to see the full sneak peak, hit "Read More..." below!
- Vet 3 Ostwind receives a 40% boost to accuracy.
- Wehrmacht Panzer Command Building reduced 15 fuel.
- Wehrmacht Panzer Command build time increased by 15s
- Knights' Cross Holders receive Panzerfaust ability at Vet 3
- Panther cost reduced from 140 fuel to 125 fuel.
- Panzerfausts cost reduced to 35
- Panzerfausts improved vs light vehicles.
Definitely some nice changes there! I'm surprised to see that they are bringing back the Knight's Cross's ability to use Panzerfausts, as that was something that was removed early on in the original Company of Heroes beta. Some interesting changes, I can't wait to see how they play out!
It's thursday which means another Video Replay Review for Tales of Heroes! This episode features some really wonderful bundled grenade usage as well as some crazy M8 on Ostwind Action! SomeBloke takes on some guy with the longest smurf name ever here on everyone's favorite semois, so don't miss it!
Also up is a brand new featured entitled Tales of Heroes War, which pits both of the Tales of Heroes hosts against each other in a game of Company of Heroes.
The hardworking folks over at Relic have dropped by our beta forums to announce that Relic will be releasing patch 2.75 for the Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts beta later today. Also included is the change log, which can be read by hitting "Read More..." below. The fixes include automatch tweaks, and several Wehrmacht fixes. Including some much needed improvements for Nebelwerfers!
Keep your eyes on Planet Company of Heroes for more details about the patch when it is released.
There is no limit to how many times you can install the game.
You don't need the disc to play if you have an active internet connection. If you don't, you'll need the disc.
People who buy copies of the game used can reclaim the CD key to ensure they're not being ripped off.
Your Relic Online account stores what products you have access to. This makes it very, very important that you don't forget your password, or you'll have to go through THQ's customer service!
You can contact customer support to reset your RO password, or get a new key if you disabled your by transferring it too much.
The only real changes are the need for a CD key if you're playing on a computer without internet (ie. a laptop on a plane), you can't play LAN games with only one copy any more, and the fact that everything is tied into your RO account (I get at least 2 e-mails a day from people who've forgot their password to their RO account!). On the plus side, if you buy the game used, you're not going to get ripped off because someone else is using the CD key. While it is still a pretty big departure from the way things worked in the original Company of Heroes, most users shouldn't even notice any negative effects.
Yes folks, indeed OF has gone gold. There will be a 0-day patch and of course post product support. We are also hoping to add in Team Automatch soon after in a patch.
Her second comment is a response to a question if we'll be seeing an Opposing Fronts demo:
Yes we do have a single player demo planned but at the moment the date is TBD. I will let you know!
The game doesn't come out for another two weeks, so there is still a lot of changes Relic can make for their launch day patch. So if you feel the game wasn't ready to go gold, don't forget that Relic's internal build is more up-to-date than our beta, and they will be releasing a patch when the game launches, and will continue to provide post-launch support.
Opposing Fronts beta updated to version 2.74.[ Comment ] 14:13 PST | Pyros | Print News | Category: Official AnnouncementsJust because Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts went gold, doesn't mean the folks at Relic are slacking off. They've released another Opposing Fronts beta patch for your enjoyment, updating the game to version 2.74. You can grab this latest patch by logging into Relic Online or downloading it straight from THQ. To see the change log, hit "Read More..." below.
And remember, you can discuss the beta in our beta forums!

Hi everyone, Im working on putting together a really cool even (involving limited edition Relic t-shirts). Im going to be running Mod Days, where everyone gets online to try out a new mod. Both the modders and people playing the mod that day will have a chance to win the t-shirts. I wont post up what the t-shirts look like yet but I have them in my hands and they are awesome!
