Halo 3: Believe Trailer

- BERJAYA 42 Comments
Grandpa was a preview of 'Believe,' a huge new Halo 3 advertising campaign based entirely around an extremely impressive battle scene diorama. Below is the 90 second trailer, and below that is a 'Making Of The Diorama' video.

BERJAYA

Visit the John-117 Monument and get a hands-on look at the amazing detail that went into crafting this stunning tribute. The exhibit is filled with first-person accounts from the soldiers who were there, fighting for our very survival. From billows of smoke erupting from a cannon to the sweat dripping from a Marine's brow, you can explore this painstaking recreation of our greatest fight, and Earth's greatest Hero.

BERJAYA

If you're ready for more check out the Believe Flash Site where you can whizz about the model, click on interactive links to learn about enemies, friendlies, and other such things and also take screenshots to use as wallpaper. If you return to the page on the 25th of September and 10th of October you'll be able to view a further two videos. Believe.

Update: Added a HD version of 'Believe' - well worth checking out to see the amazing detail in the diorama.

isn't the whole deal that the brutes took over the covenant from the elites and those types? in the end of halo2 they're all fighting w/ the brutes aren't they?

i can't remember, it's been a while since i finished halo2, but i thought that's what happened...

yeah, at some point the Brutes took over (took over what, I'm not really sure - I know some "prophet" blew a fuse and a split happened), but you still were fighting some Elites in H2 (even as the Arbiter)...

As with every FPS, Halo's story is never something I've been really paying much attention to - fights leave my adrenaline levels so high that I can't pay attention to cutscenes, and it doesn't help that music covers a lot of the dialogs and there is no caption (I'm getting deaf, and english isn't my primary language).
Don't ask me wtf happened in HL2 either (even though I played it twice)... but I made an extra effort for Bioshock :P

I've noticed they've changed the Brutes from gorillas (they had fur in Halo2) to rhinos. And most of the other covenants (hunters, jackals and even grunts) now share the same skin texture, jaw features, and armor elements as the brutes.
I wonder if those changes are being made to make the covenant a bit more cohesive visually, which would help for the movie adaptation (otherwise it would look like the muppet show). Btw, some brute designs look a bit similar to some of the Urukai in LoTR, but maybe it's no coincidence since Weta has been working with Bungie on the movie pre-prod.

So far, none of the campaign content shows the MC fighting Elites, they only appear as the Arbiter or the 2 extra friends in 4 player coop. It'd be a shame if you don't get to fight them at all.

one two three four I declare a flame war? sheesh too late.

The fact is... its a nice promo but it doesnt tell or show you a damn thing about the game. After the flop of Halo2 (someone wake up Billy G and tell him gamers wont buy a beta versions of Windows to play a game), its smart that Halo3 promo's are staying low key about graphix.

"I happen to like the ad. I think it draws you in and when you see the HD version and view the detail that went into the whole battle setup, you actually want to see what happen at the end. If you watched the first trailer with the OLD man then this second one just plays on that one. If you remember the OLD talked about when MC charged up his grenade now the second trailer gets to that moment so I am thinking the last trailers will show how this act turned the battle. "

i really hope it doesn't. i do like these ads, but i want to find out what happened in the battle myself, while i'm playing the game...

I agree that it's an interesting ad campaign, but I think that the emotional impact they're going for (by going with this war memorial theme) is undermined by the fact that the memorial is a fricking diarama made out of clay. You'd think that if the United Nations (or whatever they're called in the Halo univserse) decided to make a memorial to humanity, they'd go with something a little bigger and classier than a diarama! As someone suggested, hobbiests make this kind of shit in their basements every day!

Not in the year 2607, buddy! As any *true* Halo fan knows, the Covenant always hated human hobbiests *and* basements, so they were the first ones to go. I can't expand any more on that without spoiling the ending big time... [hint: in his spare time, the Master Chief was himself an avid model builder]

Anyway cheezy would not be my feeling of the game trailers but instead I think it's bringing a nice epic feel to the Halo universe.

I have to hand it to MS because they have hyped Halo 3 so much even my son who pretty much only plays his DS knows that Halo 3 is coming in September.

Very cool model, but I feel the ad doesn't do anything except for people who already love Halo, *and* love models. I found the "old man" teaser way more intriguing. This one smells of "let's be original like the Gears of War" ad, and missing the point.

Can't wait for the game, though.

If you don't think we should be playing games and should be focusing more on life... wtf are you doing here?

It's a novel and not-sucky ad campaign compared to what we've been fed the last decade or so. So lets give them props where its due and hope we get even better ads later.

Geez, can anyone make the distinction between enjoying your hobby or becoming the new Jihaad for your particular platform? Apparently some 13 year olds on this site have a hard time with it.
