Duke3D may come to Xbox Live Arcade
8/13/07 12:46 PST | Duke Nukem 3D News | Abe Rahey
Received word from the good folks at the Shack about further confirmation from 3D Realms that they are looking to bring Duke Nukem 3D to Xbox Live Arcade. Here's a tidbit from George Broussard:
"Truth be told, we've talked to Microsoft about it and have some people that would port it," he wrote. "Just waiting on the good word from Microsoft to continue."
This wouldn't be the first time the series has made it to consoles. Nintendo 64, PlayStation, and Game Boys Advance and Color have all hosted Duke.
Broussard confirmed the accuracy of his post to Shacknews, but declined to comment further.
So there you have it. Stay tuned for more updates on this as they come in!
JSJ: HELL YES! I dont really care for the later platforms like Manhattan Project, etc. The 3d Atomic version still is my favorite.
. . .
BB: What would be your dream voice acting job?
JSJ: As far as my dream voice workmovie trailers. Right now, a fellow named Don La Fontaine is the king of movie trailersbut someday I hope to take his place.

"Shootout: Zap the Video Games" PDF
7/20/07 23:43 PST | Community News | Abe Rahey
Twenty-five years ago, Scott Miller and George Broussard wrote a book on how to beat video games. These days, this book is all but impossible to find... however, you no longer need to hunt for it because 3D Realms has released a PDF version of it for your reading pleasure! Here's a snip about the book:
In '82, we formed the NVGPA (National Video Game Players Assoc.), and we were writing a newsletter, but then the opportunity came for us to write a strategy book on how to beat the top arcade games of the day, so we pursued that. too. We really thought the book was going to make us rich. I remember running the book's potential sale's figures though my mind: In each of the top 250 cities there must be a least an average of 10,000 game players, and if just 100 of them bought our book that would be 25,000 sales, plus in all the remaining cities we should count on at least 5 more books sold in each, which should add another 25,000 sales. And with each sale George and I get $1 each. Wow, that's more money than we can make in 5 real years of work--we'd be rich!
