Conference streams

[edit]

The program for Queering Wiki 2026 is organized into three thematic streams. These tracks help us navigate the intersections of our past, our present, and the possibilities of our future.

1. Knowledge Without Borders: Bridging Geographies, Languages, and Genders

[edit]
  • Sessions promoting visibility of linguistic, cultural, generational, ethnic, and national diversity among Queer Wikimedians;
  • Sessions on fostering collaboration between the Global South and North;
  • Projects for making Wikimedia spaces welcoming, safe and receptive to everyone;
  • Proposals addressing the role of the Wikimedia LGBT+ User group and LGBT+ WikiProjects.

2. Queer Histories: Archives, Museums, and Historical Reparation

[edit]
  • Sessions that explore how we document, preserve, and reclaim queer narratives;
  • Proposals involving GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums), oral histories, and initiatives that seek to repair systemic erasure through open data;
  • Collaborations between Wikimedians, GLAM institutions, and community/academic/government projects.

3. Queer Futures & Wild Ideas: Innovation and Exploration

[edit]
  • Projects implementing creative strategies for gender equity in open knowledge;
  • Initiatives empowering Queer individuals to become Wikimedia contributors and leaders;
  • Experimental projects, and emerging technologies;
  • Sessions that think outside the box to imagine the next generation of queer open knowledge.

Each stream includes a set of examples for inspiration. If your project isn't listed but you feel it belongs at Queering Wiki 2026, please don't hesitate to submit your proposal!
