Aksel Lund Svindal, born December 26th 1982 in Lørenskog, Norway, is a Norwegian alpine skier from Kjeller. He won the overall 2007 AND 2009 Alpine Skiing World Cup.

Crashed big in the finish area of the downhill. I jumped way to far on the last jump and that sucked the last power out of me and when I hit a bump in the finish area I couldnt hold it together anymore. Sucks because I fighting for third when it happened. Ended up in fifth, but the real good news is that I seem to be ok. Just came back from the hospital. Since I was dizzy after my crash they wanted to scan the head. The scan is done and it looked good. The rest is just bruses. Thankful that knees etc are all good. The other part of the good news is that Erik Guay is the new downhill world champion. This is a guy who has a track record of being 4th, 5th or 6th a lot at championships. So good job Erik! That was very deserved!!!
