The cost of uninsured drivers
Thursday, September 24 2009
Theresa Villiers,
Shadow Transport Secretary, has commented on figures
out today which show there are over 1.7m uninsured
drivers in England.
"Labour need to wake up
to the very real threat of uninsured drivers on our
roads", she said. "Labour's feeble plans to tackle
this epidemic are not convincing".
According to the British
Insurance Brokers Association uninsured drivers are
costing 500m in compensation or an additional 30
in your insurance premium.
"This is the last thing
honest drivers need when family budgets are
stretched", she added.
"What we really need is a
thorough assessment of whether or not Labours road
safety policies such as their over-reliance on
speed cameras are the best way to make our roads
safer and target those rogue drivers who continue to
operate outside the law."
