Week Three Program At Seymour Centre
Sad Song by US playwright Anna Zeigler, is a funny, heartfelt and honest look at the trials of being an almost-adult. Directed by acclaimed theorist, filmmaker and experimental artist Richard James Allen, it stars Zoe Tuckwell-Smith, Ben Davy-Thorburn and Stephen Peacocke.
The Zookeepers from Melbourne’s Damean Posner portrays an hilarious encounter between a zookeeper and the animal he most fears – the meerkat! Will Edwards directs Li-Leng Au (Silent Witness, Green Wing), Dominique Sweeney (A Fortunate Life) and Tony Weir.
Frostbite by Yi-Sheng Ng is an exploration of passion and inhibition through the eyes of a young girl. It features Eloise Snape, Jessica Norman, Tara Brine, Angelica Hurst and Anna Passerman under the direction of Frieda Lee.
Where Do You See Yourself Five Years From Now? from Australian theatre legend Ron Elisha presents a caustic and surreal job interview. Fiona Pulford directs Michael Harris, Brigid Dolon and Luke Storrier.
Walk With Me by hot UK playwright Ben Ockrent (Winner of Edinburgh Fringe Award 2004, Iraq 20-20) makes his Short+Sweet debut with this disturbing, dystopic view of contemporary life. Ian Zammit directs Paul Ayre, Tara Clark and Rainey Francis.
The Job Interview Sketch by Nick Parsons brings a whole new meaning to minding your own business. Marianne Frizelle and Adam de Launay are directed by Louise Fischer after their recent success with Art as a Weapon at the New Theatre.
The Flatfoot Used Facebook by Victorian writer Rob Reid is a madcap, boistrous film noir spoof. Aaron Beach directs Tom O’Sullivan, Shannen Stihl and Faysall Bazzi.
Not Proud by UK playwright Adam Brace is about sex, baby. Directed by Tanya Denny, it stars Gertraud Ingeborg, Sophie Cook, Johann Walvern and Nicholas Dimitriou.
Confused Sea Conditions by Suzie Miller explores the polarities of isolation and communication through the conversation of a dying woman and her doctor. Anna Rhuby and Barrie French feature in meditative work directed by Alice Livingstone.
Duet with a Dictionary from Noelle Janacewska is an investigation of the power of the printed word, exploring how language creates meaning and vice versa. Directed by Jess Tuckwell.

Week Three Program At Newtown Theatre
Cowboy Humour is a rollicking caper in which two council workers stumble across a corpse, a pocketful of money and a terrifying cowboy. Written by David Astle, and directed Henry Jennings, it features Henry Jennings, John Cross and Patrick McGee.
Boy/Girl, written by Dan Henshall, Dean Baker and Nikki Britton charts the unfolding of a relationship as two people negotiate a way to stay together. Anthony Skuse (A Bright Room Called Day, Terrorism, The Cold Child) directs Dean Baker and Nikki Britton in this tender and poignant offering from independent company discombobulate.
Not The Vice-Chancellor is a comedy of manners set in a contemporary university, written by Cynthia Rowe and directed by Jan Lord.
Who Needs Therapy from Jacqueline Hogan is a wacky head-shrinking comedy in which a therapy session takes an unexpected turn. Mabelle Reyes directs Kerry Williams and Alexandra Mattinson in this I.T.O theatre company production.
On The Cards by Melbourne playwright Scott McAteer sees a woman visit a psychic and finding her future was not as she expected. Steven Carnell directs Fiona De Zotti, Nicola Hurst and Lauren Hamilton Neill in this Actors Anonymous production.
Des-go-cartes by Grant Woolley is a wacky satire in which Descartes tries to interest us in his new theory. Warren Cowell directs Oleg Popuvac, Drew Scott and Samantha Rice in this strange conversation with the great, great grandson of modern philosophy.
Losing Your Marbles by Gerry Greenland explores the poignance of memory and the heartache that Alzheimer’s can bring to a relationship. Lauren Pfitzner directs previous Short+Sweet best actress Christine Greenough, Valentino Arico and Heath Wilder in this play by independent theatre company Shaft Productions.
The Caretakers is a chilling Australian ghost story from Snow Jones. Directed by Erin Turner, it stars Ryan Paranthoiene, Karen Cobban and Avalon McGrath.
The Saga of Ginny by American writer Ian August features a hapless pair of performers who struggle with an “enlightened” moral guardian. This hilarious comedy is directed by Adam Gelin and stars Helen Christinson (Private Lives, The Drowning Bride) Randall Mettan (White Collar Blue) & Natalie Page.
Stanislavski’s Daughter by Shaun Tinkler is a Woody Allen-esque play-within-a-play charting the demise of the great Russian Dramatist. Jane Eakin directs Matt Ford, Sarah McGlade, Carlos Sivalingham and Ian McColm in this mixture of method and madness.
Anne Frankenstein – The Musical by US playwright David Holstein is an hilarious mish-mash of genres that’ s at once irreverent and warm-hearted. Erin Mascord-Perez directs an ensemble cast including Dave Key, Adam Wilson, Monique Hartman and Louise Roberts, with an original score by Benny Davis.
The Short+Sweet “Wildcards” program also continues in week 3.
