Schneider Electric’s Post

Artificial intelligence is no longer a future bet for manufacturers. Survey data shows a widening gap between today’s modest AI returns and the dramatic ROI leaders expect by 2030. The biggest barrier is not technology, it is readiness. Learn what foundations matter most, and how to close the gap, in the new Industrial AI in CPG Report. http://spr.ly/6047BBgKrR

The biggest challenge in industrial AI is rarely the models themselves — it’s operational readiness across data, infrastructure, workflows, and organizational execution. Manufacturers often underestimate how much ROI depends on clean telemetry, interoperable systems, scalable infrastructure, and the ability to integrate AI into real production environments without disrupting operations. The companies seeing the largest long-term gains will be the ones building AI-ready operational foundations now rather than chasing isolated pilot projects.

Interesting point about “readiness” being the real barrier. In custom industrial engineering projects, we often see that operational adaptation and process standardization are much harder than the technology itself. AI has huge potential in manufacturing, but execution will always be the key factor.

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming manufacturing, but the real challenge lies beyond adopting technology — it lies in building readiness, skills, and the right strategy. Many companies invest in AI expecting immediate returns, while long-term success depends on workforce capability, data quality, leadership vision, and operational integration. The widening gap between current AI outcomes and expected ROI by 2030 highlights the importance of preparing industries today. Practical AI should focus not only on automation but also on improving efficiency, reducing waste, predicting maintenance, strengthening supply chains, and enabling smarter decisions. Manufacturers who prioritize adaptability and continuous learning will likely gain a significant competitive advantage. This discussion is timely because AI adoption is becoming less of an option and more of a necessity in modern industry. Valuable insights from reports like this can help organizations move from experimentation to measurable impact and sustainable growth. Great perspective on the future of industrial transformation.
