Power efficiency and edge AI continue to define the conversation at Sensors Converge this year. As intelligence moves closer to the edge, the focus is shifting toward enabling smarter, faster, and more adaptive systems, all while optimizing for low power consumption and real-world deployment. From sensing and embedded processing to on-device AI, the industry is building toward a more efficient and connected future. Hear Omar Abed’s insights below:

Halfway through my day at HANNOVER MESSE, one observation already stands out: You don’t see “AI overload” here. Yes, there are strong showcases—but they remain largely domain-bound. AI is solving specific, well-defined problems, not yet deeply integrated across manufacturing systems. And it’s not for lack of ambition. The real constraint is infrastructure: antiquated analog setups and fragmented digital interfaces still dominate. Integration is hard. It’s relatively easy to bolt on AI—add a camera, optimize a process step. But that keeps systems reactive, not truly intelligent. The shift toward embedded, proactive AI in industrial environments is still ahead. P.S. Here are some dogs of the future.
