About The Role

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a highly skilled Wi-Fi Network Engineer to join its enterprise infrastructure team. This role requires a true

wireless subject matter expert (SME) who will lead the design, deployment, and optimization of a large-scale Cisco wireless environment across multiple

clinical and hospital sites.

You will play a key role in modernizing the wireless network , including migration to Cisco 9800 controllers and deploying next-generation Wi-Fi 7 access points .

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Wi-Fi SME, providing leadership across all wireless initiatives
• Design, implement, and support Cisco WLAN infrastructure
• Conduct pre- and post-deployment site surveys using Ekahau
• Configure and manage Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs)
• Oversee deployment and troubleshooting of wireless access points (APs)
• Optimize wireless performance and resolve complex connectivity issues
• Use Cisco Prime and Catalyst Center (DNAC) for monitoring and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on wireless projects
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting network operations
  
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of hands-on enterprise wireless engineering experience
• Strong expertise with Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs, WLAN design)
• Experience deploying and managing Cisco 9800 WLCs
• Proven experience conducting wireless site surveys using Ekahau
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting wireless APs
• Familiarity with Cisco Prime, DNAC, or similar network management tools
• Solid understanding of RF fundamentals and wireless optimization
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNP (Wireless) or equivalent certification
• Experience with WiFi 6 / 6E / WiFi 7 environments
• Previous experience in healthcare or large enterprise environments
• Basic knowledge of Cisco routing and switching
• Strong communication and documentation skills
  
  
  

Work Environment

• On-site role supporting multiple healthcare locations across the NYC area
• Collaborative wireless engineering team environment
• Travel required between facilities for surveys, upgrades, and deployments
• Participation in on-call rotation (~1 week every 6–7 weeks, stipend provided)
