ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of web-based and enterprise applications
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC including requirements analysis, coding, testing, and deployment
• Develop and support APIs and integrations using modern frameworks (REST preferred)
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on build, release, and CI/CD processes
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following coding standards
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and performance issues
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, Retrospectives)
• Support security, compliance, and data protection requirements aligned with federal standards
• Continuously learn and adopt new technologies and best practices
  
  

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• 0–3 years of experience in software development or relevant internships
• Basic understanding of programming languages such as: Java, Python, or similar Familiarity with: Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) Databases (SQL or NoSQL)
• Exposure to modern development frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot)
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices concepts
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• Candidates must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years
  
  

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred – EKS, S3, RDS exposure is a plus)
• Familiarity with DevOps tools (Git, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum environments
• Knowledge of security best practices (OAuth, TLS, secure coding)
• Limited experience with front-end frameworks (Angular/React)
  
  

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  
  

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. In addition to our competitive base pay, Sparksoft offers health insurance, paid time off, 401K matching, and training. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or other laws.

Maryland Pay Range: $50,000 USD - $65,000 USD
