Every new home in the UK will now be built free from gas. The Future Homes Standard, published yesterday, is a structural fix to our broken energy system—banning gas boilers in new builds and requiring rooftop solar on every new home. This protects new households from fossil fuel price volatility from day one. The groundwork is already laid: one in four new homes built in 2025 had electrified heating, up from 16% two years ago. Over 50,000 new homes last year were completed with heat pumps, showing housebuilders are ready. Now is the time to deliver - clean heat is the solution for warmer homes, lower bills, and true energy independence. Read our March report for more insights https://lnkd.in/e_9nsfsn

Gas and oil are holding us back — leaving 1.7 million oil heated homes in England and Wales facing tripling costs with no price cap. A typical oil-heated home will now pay £2,115 a year, but could save 54% with a heat pump. A cost of £967 per year, and with stability. https://lnkd.in/eJn-sFHS Communities most reliant on oil heating are leading the charge on clean heat. In Cornwall, at least 34,000 homes still depend on oil, but the county topped the table with 1,694 heat pump installations last year. In Ceredigion, where a third of homes use oil, 581 households made the switch in 2025. Clean heat is the solution — and the momentum is real. Targeting the top 40 local authorities would reach half of all oil-heated homes. These communities don’t need convincing — they need the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and Warm Homes Plan to reach them faster to free themselves from volatile fossil fuel costs. Now is the time to fix our broken energy system and back the regions that are ready to lead.

The energy price cap drops in April — good news for households. But behind the scenes, taxpayers are picking up the tab for shielding us from volatile gas markets. This week, gas prices surged over 40% as conflict hit the Middle East. As our board member Jan Rosenow put it: "We haven't scaled the alternatives fast enough. Now we pay the price." Our February data shows another way is possible. Heat pumps running at 380% efficiency. BUS demand up 36%. Households already saving £168/year after levy rebalancing. Freedom from gas means stable bills powered by homegrown energy — no matter what happens thousands of miles away. https://lnkd.in/ekXqFa_Z

The energy price cap falling by £117 from April is good news for working families. But as Ed Miliband said: the only way to end the era of high bills for good is to get off the fossil fuel rollercoaster. Wholesale gas costs are still 40% above historic levels. Price cap relief is welcome; it isn't a permanent fix. The Warm Homes Plan is how you make the savings stick: warmer homes, lower running costs, and freedom from volatile gas prices for the 5 million households it's designed to reach. Our data shows the demand is already there: 1 in 4 new homes are now built with electrified heating and heat pumps are running at 376% efficiency in real-world conditions. Now is the moment to give homes a permanent upgrade by helping more people switch to clean heat, ensuring homes are warmer, and bills are fairer and more predictable.

Energy bills are coming down 📉 We promised to take an average of £150 of costs off bills at the Budget - and we've delivered. This will be reflected in the April price cap. After energy bills rocketed in recent years, they are now heading in the right direction. Find out more: https://orlo.uk/oH2am

  • Just Released: February Electrified Heat Transition Tracker — our full-year review for 2025. 2025 was a record year for heat pump demand. Over 61,000 MCS certified installations. 125,037 factory gate sales — up 27% year-on-year. BUS voucher applications up 36%, confirming the scheme's market-making power. One in four new homes is now built with electrified heating. The Future Homes Standard, confirmed for 2026, will make it universal — every new home set up from day one with stable, predictable energy costs and no gas dependency. The Warm Homes Plan builds on these foundations with expanded grants, government-backed loans, and an offer for everyone. It would be even better if delivery tracked not just installations, but whether households are actually warmer and paying less — the tangible benefits of freedom from gas, making energy independence a reality for households across the country. • Consumer demand for heat pumps surged 40% in 2025, with BUS voucher applications reaching record levels. Our latest data shows voucher applications received hit 5,390 in November alone. If heat pumps were delivering disappointing results - as some are claiming - we wouldn't be seeing this momentum. Households are voting with their wallets. Here's what the data shows: 90-95% of households who've installed heat pumps through the BUS are satisfied with their systems. Heat pumps deliver 3.76 units of heat for every unit of electricity used - meaning heat pumps are delivering real value, keeping homes warm, and setting people free from volatile imported gas prices. The Warm Homes Plan has set the foundations that will ensure everyone can benefit from lower bills, energy security, and home-grown electricity. #FreedomFromGas #CleanHeat #HeatPumps #EnergyTransition

Love this sketch from Parents For Future UK. When consumer demand for heat pumps is rocketing to a 27% increase in installations year-on-year, maybe we've all been a bit smitten. A record high of 125,000 heat pump units were sold in the UK last year — the fastest growth rate in Europe. Thousands of households are already seeing the benefits: warmer homes, lower bills, and freedom from volatile imported gas prices. The foundations are there. Now is the moment to match this momentum with the policy certainty families and installers need. #FreedomFromGas #HeatPumps #CleanHeat

It’s almost Valentine's weekend, and we’re turning up the heat! Don’t miss Parents For Future UK's alternative love story ❣️ Our commitment to the energy transition is as strong as our passion for creating climate content that informs, inspires, and brings people together, and we hope we've nailed it with this sketch. Please do let us know what you think. Supported by Nesta, it builds on our work with some of the UKs brightest comedians and comedy writers. Writer Rose Johnson said: “I like a challenge, so when Parents for Future came to me and asked “Can you make heat pumps funny?”. I jumped at the opportunity. Comedy and the climate crisis might not seem like natural bedfellows, but laughter is a great engager, and if this sketch encourages even one person to look up “What actually is a heat pump?”, then I’ll consider it a success.” Starring the brilliant Rose Johnson, James McNicholas Rob Copland and very accidentally, me! 🫣 Huge thanks to Warming Up Comedy for the incredible shooting and editing!
