How to Improve API Performance Pagination Pagination is a common optimization technique when result sets are large. By streaming results back to the client in pages, service responsiveness can be improved. Asynchronous Logging Synchronous logging writes to disk on every API call, slowing down the system. With asynchronous logging, logs are first sent to a lock-free buffer and control is immediately returned. The buffer contents are then flushed periodically to disk, significantly reducing I/O overhead. Caching Frequently accessed data can be cached for fast retrieval. Clients can query the cache first instead of hitting the database directly every time. For cache misses, the database can be queried as a fallback. In-memory caches like Redis provide faster data access compared to databases. Payload Compression Request and response payloads can be compressed using algorithms such as gzip to reduce transmitted data volume. This speeds up upload and download times. Connection Pooling Opening and closing database connections has significant overhead. Using a pool of open connections avoids this. The connection pool manages lifecycle events internally.

Secure Your Spring Boot App with OAuth2 — Quick Setup . OAuth 2.0 is a secure way for your app to access a user’s data from other services — without needing their password. How do I login to Spring Application with my Google account? First we need to get client id from google cloud console. Here’s the step-by-step process: 1) Search "google cloud console" in chrome 2) Go to Quick Access → APIs & Services 3) Then, go to Credentials and click the "Create credentials" → "OAuth client ID" button to create a new credential. We take these credentials and add them to the application.properties file in the Spring Boot application. ---Never share the client ID and client secret you get from here.--- Use this ---http://localhost:8080/login/oauth2/code/google--- url in the "Authorized redirect URIs" section. The main goal was to open swagger with OAuth2. A resilient system is designed not to avoid failures entirely, but to gracefully handle and recover from them. 🔁 Key Principles of Resiliency 1. Fault Tolerance The system can continue functioning despite the failure of some of its components. Techniques include redundancy, replication, and failover mechanisms. 2. Failure Detection & Recovery Systems should quickly detect failures and take automated actions to recover, such as restarting services or rerouting traffic. 3. Isolation Preventing failure in one component from cascading and affecting the entire system. Examples include circuit breakers and bulkheads. 4. Redundancy Multiple copies of critical components or data are maintained to ensure availability during failures. 5. Graceful Degradation Instead of crashing completely, the system reduces functionality while still providing core features. 6. One of the most powerful lenses to understand those decisions is through architectural characteristics: the qualities that define how a system behaves beyond its core functionality. 1️⃣ The Base Triangle — The Essence of Architecture Architectural characteristics lie at the intersection of three ideas: They specify a non-domain design consideration (like scalability or performance). They influence a structural aspect of the design. They are critical to the application’s success. 2️⃣ Not All Qualities Are Equal In real projects, we balance many types of characteristics: Operational: performance, scalability, availability. Structural: modifiability, testability. Cross-cutting: security, auditability, compliance.
