Turning housing ambition into delivery: The EAPB at the Informal Ministerial Conference on Housing This week, an Informal Ministerial Conference on Housing took place in Cyprus under the Cypriot Presidency. Ministers and key EU stakeholders came together to advance practical solutions to Europe's growing housing crisis, building on the European Affordable Housing Plan and the Pan-European Investment Platform. The EAPB President, Lidwin van Velden contributed to this meeting. "Housing is central to our members mission. EAPB members stand ready to be partners in turning ambition into delivery." Key points from the discussion: ✅ The Pan-European Investment Platform should build on the existing cooperation between EIB and NPBs. ✅ The upcoming Housing Simplification Package must match the ambition of the Affordable Housing Plan ✅ Housing must have a meaningful place in the next MFF, with clear objectives in the NRPPs and real room in the Competitiveness Fund ✅ Blended finance must become the rule, not the exception: combining public subsidies with long-term lending through promotional banks multiplies the impact of every euro invested EAPB, together with ELTI, has set a joint ambition to invest EUR 375 billion in affordable, social and sustainable housing by 2029. The capital, the expertise and the local reach are already there.
