Over ons
Gasunie, Vopak, Shell and TotalEnergies are dedicated to develop an open access terminal for liquid CO2 on the Maasvlakte in the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Such infrastructures are important in the context of the Dutch Climate Agreement and the European Green Deal. The open access hub terminal will be able to receive and deliver liquid CO2 via ships (and potentially railcars in the future) and will be connected to the depleted gas fields in the North Sea through the Aramis trunkline, a Dutch CCS project. This will make the necessary infrastructure available to all market parties, including those that do not have a direct connection to a CO2 pipeline.

How is COânext helping to build a cross-border COâ network? At CO2next, we are proud to work alongside other Dutch COâ-infrastructure projects to shape a fully integrated network that enables large-scale CCS â not just for the Netherlands, but for all of Europe. That this network is no longer just a plan is demonstrated by Porthos, which is now well under construction. The development of pipelines, compression facilities, and offshore storage infrastructure shows that the Dutch CCS infrastructure is taking concrete shape. The visible progress at Porthos reinforces confidence that a robust, safe, and cross-border COâ network will indeed be realized. On 2 and 3 December, we will join Porthos, Aramis CCS, #DeltaRhineCorridor and #DeltaScheldeCO2nnection to demonstrate how our collaboration is laying the foundation for a smart, safe and affordable COâ network. A network that connects industries, ports and storage locations across borders, helping Europe make meaningful climate progress today. The PCI Energy Days are the leading European Union platform where Projects of Common Interest present how they support the EUâs energy and climate ambitions. Hosted by the European Commission and delivered by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agencyâ European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, the event brings together policymakers, stakeholders and industry representatives to shape the (European) energy infrastructure of the future. Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) is essential in this transition. It reduces industrial COâ emissions in sectors where alternatives are not yet feasible â keeping our industries competitive while accelerating the path to net zero. The PCI status granted to our joint projects underscores their strategic importance for a cross-border, reliable and future-proof energy infrastructure. These PCI projects are made possible with financial support from the European Union. Want to learn more about how the Netherlands â and CO2next â are contributing to a resilient European COâ network? Meet us on 2 and 3 December at the PCI Energy Days in Brussels â in the PCI Garden. #CO2next #CCS #PCIdaysEU #CEFEnergy #Porthos #Aramis #DeltaRhineCorridor #DeltaScheldeCO2nnection #Collaboration #Sustainability #EnergyTransition

Great to see our colleague Nick van den Boogaart represented at the Enlit Europe Summit in Bilbao! The sessions moderated by Alberto Sánchez Miravalles once again highlighted the essential role of CCUS in accelerating Europeâs decarbonisation ambitions. The insights shared during these sessions underline the importance of building a cross-border COâ transport and storage infrastructure that is safe, scalable and future-proof â essential for helping industries cut their COâ emissions, and an area where CO2next can play an important role. It was great to have Nick contribute to this important dialogue alongside experts from across the sector. Together, we are working on the solutions needed to drive Europe toward Net Zero! #CO2next | #CCUS | #CarbonCapture | #NetZero | #EnergyTransition | #decarbonisation | #Carboninfrastructure
ðªðº Last week, EU Policy Manager Alberto Sánchez Miravalles was in Bilbao at Enlit Europe Summit! Alberto moderated a session on the role of CCUS in accelerating decarbonisation efforts, focusing on how capturing COâ emissions from industrial processes and power generation can significantly mitigate emissions and support Europeâs climate ambitions. To unpack this, Alberto was joined by Peter van Hooft from Skytree, Olav Ãye from Bellona, Nick van den Boogaart from Gasunie, and RadosÅaw (Radek) Gnutek from Holcim Polska. He also moderated the "Carbon Capture: Realistic Solutions & Case Studies" session, where fellow speakers presented their views and the technology to address COâ capture. Here, Alberto was joined by Edgardo Coda Zabetta, Peter van Hooft, and Olav Ãye. #NetZeroâ¯|â¯#CCUSâ¯|â¯#CarbonCapture

Great to be part of the integrated CCS network! ð Curious how CCS projects are working together to shape a low-carbon future? Explore Gasunieâs interactive map to see how projects â including CO2next â connect to form an integrated COâ transport system across borders. Each project plays its part. COânext enables industry to deliver COâ by ship, acting as a flexible link between industry, storage under the North Sea, and future COâ reuse. This makes CCS â and potentially CCU â accessible to a wider range of industries, including those without a viable route towards a pipeline connection. ðª Together, we are building a climate-neutral and future-proof industry in Europe.
