The dex compiler mostly works under the hood in your day-to-day app development, but it directly impacts your app’s build time, .dex file size, and runtime performance.

Today, we’re releasing Developer Preview 5 (DP5) for Android Things, which includes the major change of being based on the upcoming Android O release, as well as supporting the new NXP SprIoT i.MX6UL

With the change to Android O, developers should target API 26 to work correctly on the platform with our support libraries. DP5 now supports OpenGL ES 2.0, WebView, and dynamic pin muxing on the Raspberry Pi 3, and other fixes and features for all supported platforms.
