Better understand conversions with the new country breakdown in the Google Play Developer Console User Acquisition Report

We launched the User Acquisition Performance report last August, in the Google Play Developer Console, to help you understand how users discover your app on Google Play and how your different acquisition channels perform at converting users to buyers.

To provide more granular capabilities within the tool, we’re introducing a new country breakdown. Now, you can get deeper insight into your conversion funnel, and track conversions by country from Store listing visits to repeat purchases. Use this to understand where you should spend time improving your store listing and branding.

TIPS: For low performing countries, check if you’ve localized your listing in that country’s language, and if not, try our professional App Translation Service [https://goo.gl/yidohX] . Once your store listing has been localized, you can maximize conversions by running language-specific Store Listing Experiments [https://goo.gl/xoEWPG].

Top tips for using the new Android Wear -round identifier

Hoi Lam shares some of the best practices when building for circular screens! With API 23, you can now separate resource files by whether the screen is round or not using -round suffix in the resource directories (e.g. layout-round, values-round). How should you choose between BoxInsetLayout, layout-round and values-round? Read on to find out!

Deprecation of BIND_LISTENER with Android Wear APIs

If you’re an Android Wear developer, we wanted to let you know of a change you might need to make to your app to improve the performance of your user’s devices. If your app is using BIND_LISTENER intent filters in your manifest, it is important that you are aware that this API has been deprecated on all Android versions. The new replacement API introduced in Google Play Services 8.2 is more efficient for Android devices, so developers are encouraged to migrate to this as soon as possible to ensure the best user experience. It is important that all Android Wear developers are aware of this change and update their apps as soon as possible.

Enhancing App Security on Google Play

For great tips on how to build more secure apps, check out the +Google Play App Security Improvement Program. As part of the program, we also help you identify potential security enhancements when your app is uploaded to Google Play. In fact, we’ve worked with developers to improve the security of over 100,000 apps through the program last year.

Developing for Direct Boot

For some apps that schedule alarms and receive messages, delivering timely notifications is critical. With Android N, we’re introducing the option for apps to run before the user unlocks the device after a reboot, so your users will never miss that important alarm clock in the morning.

In the recently released Android N Developer Preview 2, we’ve changed the names of some methods and Intents related to Direct Boot to better reflect their actual behavior. For example: Context.createDeviceEncryptedStorageContext() is now Context.createDeviceProtectedStorageContext() and PackageManager.MATCH_ENCRYPTION_AWARE is now PackageManager.MATCH_DIRECT_BOOT_AWARE.

Check out our blog post (http://goo.gl/8Z7QWd) to learn more and remember to #BuildBetterApps!

+Ian Lake Indeed, but the sample rely on "standard" streams HLS/MP4 etc...
It would be great to have something on what to do when dealing with custom stream (which contains standard codecs like h264 + ogg), how to split the packets, to which component send them etc...
I should probably figure this by myself, but reverse engineering ExoPlayer is no simple task.
