Louis Allen Rawls known as "Lou Rawls" was born on 1 Dec 1933 in Chicago. His parents were Virgil Rawls and Evelyn Allen, age 18, born in Tennessee.[1] [2]

Early Life

In 1940 he was with his grandmother and aunt Esther (Queen Esther) Banks. In this household of three, in 1940, Esther Banks was the head. She was age 29 and widowed, born in Alabama, a shirt finisher in a laundry. Her mother Liza Rolls was age 68, widowed, born in Alabama. Esther's nephew Louis Rolls was age 6, born in Illinois.[3]

Death

Louis Allen Rawls, known to the world as "Lou Rawls", passed away on January 6 2006, in Los Angeles, California, United States, and was interred in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Los Angeles.[6]

  • Wikipedia says that he was raised by his grandmother.

In the 1940 US census its reads In the 1998 newspaper article it also shows raised by his grandmother. In the 2006 newspaper Ob it reads widow Nina at his side plus his children Louanna Rawls, Lou Rawls Jr, Kendra Smith and new-born Arden. Great article explains his childhood friend Sam Cooke collabrated on "Bring It on Home to Me". In My Heritage link below reads Lou was married 3 times.
