Biography
Lesane Parish Crooks is better known as the the legendary Hip-Hop rapper, Tupac Amaru Shakur.[1]
His parents, Afeni Shakur—born Alice Fay Williams in North Carolina—and his birth father, William Garland , were active Black Panther Party members.
Tupac got his start as a member of Digital Underground and also rapped with the groups Outlawz and Thug Life. He was best known as a solo artist under the mononym 2Pac.
He was shot and killed on September 7, 1996. His ashes were scattered in his mother's garden in Stone Mountain, Georgia.[2]
On September 29, 2023 it was announced that a suspect had been arrested in his death.[3]
