In the current issue of Production Weekly, it has been reported that filming for the upcoming Netflix series “The Corrections” is being eyed to begin in November 2026 and will run for several months before ending in April 2027. As earlier reported, Netflix purchased the series from Paramount TV Studios. CBS Studios is producing, with Meryl Streep confirmed as an executive producer alongside author Jonathan Franzen and director Cord Jefferson. Here’s the series’ synopsis according to Production Weekly:
After almost 50 years as a wife and mother, Enid Lambert (Streep) is ready to have some fun. Unfortunately, her husband, Alfred, is losing his sanity to Parkinson’s disease, and their children have long since flown the family nest to the catastrophes of their own lives. The oldest, Gary, a once-stable portfolio manager and family man, is trying to convince his wife and himself, despite clear signs to the contrary, that he is not clinically depressed. The middle child, Chip, has lost his seemingly secure academic job and is failing spectacularly at his new line of work. And Denise, the youngest, has escaped a disastrous marriage only to pour her youth and beauty down the drain on an affair with a married man – or so her mother fears. Desperate for some pleasure to look forward to. Enid has set her heart on an elusive goal: bringing her family together for one last Christmas at home. Stretching from the Midwest at midcentury to the Wall Street and Eastern Europe of today, The Corrections brings an old-fashioned world of civic virtue and sexual inhibitions into violent collision with the era of hands-off parenting, do-it-yourself mental health care, and globalized greed.
A fantastic batch of video clips have been added to the video archive. Some programmes I have been searching for years – and some I didn’t even know existed. Among the updates is 2005’s “Unscripted”, an HBO docuseries following young actors hoping for their big break – one of them being Bryan Greenberg, who plays Meryl’s son in the romantic comedy “Prime”. Lots of scenes from the film’s set are included in the episode. Then, there’s “Eight Minutes to Midnight”, a 1980 documentary for which Meryl taped a video introduction when it first aired on tv in 1984. Then, there are various news reports from the late 1980s and early 1990s. The final addition is a taping of Joe Papp’s surprise birthday party in 1978 at the Delacorte Theatre, where Meryl – alongside Chris Sarandon, Edward Herrmann and Carol Kane – performed a miniplay in his honor. In the video, we see them rehearsing and bits from the performance, among many famous faces of the 1970s. A great find. All added videos can be found below. Enjoy.

“Hoppers” will begin streaming on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 3. New content typically becomes available on the streaming service at 3 a.m. ET / midnight PT. The movie follows Mabel, an animal lover who uses new technology to “hop” her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver so she can communicate directly with animals. Once she’s in that world, she meets a beaver named King George and gets swept into a much bigger mission involving an imminent human threat. As of writing, “Hoppers” has grossed about $372 million at the global box office, which ranks as the sixth-highest total of the year. Upon “Hoppers”‘ release in theaters, it became one of Pixar’s best-reviewed movies, even amidst a long run of success for the computer-animation giants. Meryl Streep is featured in a voice cameo as the Insect Queen in a voice cast that also includes Piper Curda,Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm and Tom Law.

It has been a successful third week at the box office for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” – according to The Hollywood Reporter – even as it cedes first place to “Michael” domestically. For the past two weekends, David Frankel’s follow-up to the beloved 2006 classic, has topped the global box office – proof that charismatic characters and covetable couture never go out of style. It’s also a certified hit for its stars – Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci – all returning 20 years after starring in the first film. On Friday, the 20th Century and Disney sequel sashayed past the $500 million mark globally to become the top-grossing female-fueled pic since “Barbie”, not adjusted. Prada 2 is expected to gross another $20 million or so domestically in its third outing for a North American tally of around $178 million through Sunday (while it has access to a number of premium large-format screens, it was never remastered to play in Imax). But Disney’s film empire will soon be the ruler of all premium-large format auditoriums when Memorial Day tentpole Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu opens around the world this week.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the world of fashion gave video game adaptation “Mortal Kombat II” a run for its money at the Mother’s Day box office, with “The Devil Wears Prada” winning the weekend with an impressive sophomore haul of $43 million in North America and $75.8 million overseas. That means the 20th Century and Disney title has already passed up the entire lifetime run of the first film (or $326 million) in only its second outing, not adjusted for inflation. The Prada sequel fell just 43 percent domestically and 46 percent overseas in a major win for the 20th Century brand under Disney’s ownership. To boot, Disney is also celebrating becoming the first Hollywood studio to cross $2 billion in 2026 global ticket sales. As the article continues, the victor of the weekend box office was always expected to be determined by Mother’s Day traffic. That automatically gave Prada 2 an advantage, since it’s fast on its way to becoming the biggest female-driven film since Warner Bros.’ Barbie in 2023 after kicking off the summer box office last weekend in high style.
Another big batch of magazine scans has been added to the photo gallery, including probably every magazine on newsstands right now. Many thanks to Alvaro for sending them in. Much appreciated. There are also a couple new production stills from “The Devil Wears Prada 2”, featuring Miranda Priestly and Simone Ashley’s and B.J. Novak’s characters. Also, on Thursday, David Letterman reunited with longtime friend and frequent collaborator Martin Short for a nostalgic evening at Hollywood’s Montalban Theatre, as part of the Netflix is a Joke Presents: This Better Be Funny With David Letterman series. The event celebrated their storied friendship and comedic chemistry that has spanned decades, dating back to the years when Short often appeared on The Late Show. By sheer coincidence, Meryl Streep was there as well :-) A list of all updates can be found below.

According to Variety, “The Devil Wears Prada” has defied box office expectations with $77 million in its opening weekend. Those ticket sales tower above the original, which launched to $27.5 million domestically in 2006. It racked up another $156.6 million at the international box office, bringing global ticket sales to $233.6 million for the weekend. Disney’s 20th Century Studios spent lavishly on the sequel, which was produced for roughly $100 million, not including the worldwide marketing budget. To compare, the first film carried a price tag of around $40 million, not adjusted for inflation. Director David Frankel told the New York Times the sequel’s budget “mostly went to the cast.” Already, the studio’s investment in more “Prada” is proving to be money well spent; the second film is poised to outgross the original’s lifetime haul in a matter of weeks. They also rank as the fourth-best start of the year, behind “Michael” ($97.5 million), “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” ($131 million) and “Project Hail Mary” ($80 million). The follow-up, which brought back the original director Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, picks up two decades later as Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs returns to Runway magazine as a features editor under Meryl Streep’s powerful editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly. Reviews were mixed, but audiences were more receptive and awarded it an “A-“ grade on CinemaScore exit polls.
In a press release, Netflix announced that Greta Gerwig’s “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew”, an epic adventure, will release in IMAX and wide globally in theaters on February 12, 2027, and on Netflix on April 2, 2027. Sneak previews only in IMAX will begin on February 10, 2027. Written for the screen and directed by Gerwig, the origin story for Narnia is the first ever adaptation of Lewis’s The Magician’s Nephew – which was published May 2, 1955, and celebrates its 71st anniversary today – and pairs newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell with an all-star cast that includes Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith with Daniel Craig and Meryl Streep, and more. “Working with Netflix to bring this film to life has been extraordinary and IMAX continues to be an incredible partner. I cannot wait for people to see the film in theaters on February 12 and on Netflix on April 2,” says Gerwig. No word yet on Meryl Streep’s role, although it has been rumored by many (and feared by some) fans that she will be voicing Aslan. The Netflix press release doesn’t mention any character names for the actors attached.

After years of critical acclaim, complex female characters, and Oscars, The Devil Wears Prada gave Meryl Streep something she had never quite possessed before: box office power. At 57, Streep’s name could draw audiences and help secure financing based on her involvement alone. She would prove this just two years later with the musical Mamma Mia! – the highest-grossing film of her career, with over $610 million worldwide – and continued to anchor successful female-driven films such as It’s Complicated, which grossed over $200 million, Julie & Julia with $130 million, and even The Iron Lady with $115 million. It can be argued that none of these projects would have reached the same level of success without Streep’s resurgence – not only as a serious actress, but as a bona fide movie star.
