Deadbeat Beat break down every track on 'From Here to Ohio'!

Today marks the release of the new album by Detroit-based rockers Deadbeat Beat. The album is called From Here to Ohio and features ten tracks that capture the band’s excellent blend of garage, indie, jangle pop, punk, and pure rock ’n’ roll. The album was recorded and mixed by Chris Koltay at High Bias Recordings and mastered by Warren Defever at Third Man. Speaking to Punknews about songwriting, guitarist and vocalist Alex Glendening said,

”A note on inspiration in songwriting on the album as a whole: I have come to visualize that inspiration in the songwriting process like making bread. What starts as flour, water, yeast, salt ends up folded over onto itself until it’s an unrecognizable, sticky, living mass. And my songwriting is the hand that folds and turns it. In that same respect, oftentimes my lyrics “quote things” in the same way. The quotes are meant to evoke the feelings and sentiments of the original text while now fractured and imbued with different flavors, textures, perspectives.”

We caught up with Alex to hear the stories behind each of the tracks. From Here to Ohio is available everywhere now via We Are Time. Deadbeat Beat will be playing their record release show tonight at Paris Bar in Detroit, and will be touring the US this month and next. Listen to the album and read the track-by-track breakdown below!

Check out the new album by Bob Bert!

Today, we are psyched to debut the new album by Bob Bert!

You all know bob. He was in Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, and he's also recorfed with Lydia Lunch. And now, he has got a freaked out album on the docket. Beach Bongo Bloodbathm out via Bar None, finds Bob mixing originals with some warped covers. Listen people, this is far out. For example yes, "Mississippi Queen" is a cover of the Mountain classic… sort of. It really is more of a broken down, built up reconstruction that calls out to the essence of The Residents, Devo, and The Units.

As per Bob, Beach Bongo Bloodbath is my first ever solo album. It was recorded casually after doing some solo performances with my unusual percussion set up. It contains 8 cover versions and 5 songs under a minute. By not including any guitars or bass BBB takes you on a trip from the beach to Mars through the jungle."

But don't take our word, here's what Lydia Lunch has to say: "“Bob Bert proves he's the coolest thing to come out of New Jersey since the vibrating bed, as he takes over the controls and spews his groovy magic all over his latest joint BEACH BONGO BLOODBATH. Playing nearly every instrument, spouting the occasional beatnik banter and covering Love Comes In Spurts makes this psychedelic hullabaloo the perfect party album.”
