Deadbeat Beat break down every track on 'From Here to Ohio'!
Today marks the release of the new album by Detroit-based rockers Deadbeat Beat. The album is called From Here to Ohio and features ten tracks that capture the band’s excellent blend of garage, indie, jangle pop, punk, and pure rock ’n’ roll. The album was recorded and mixed by Chris Koltay at High Bias Recordings and mastered by Warren Defever at Third Man. Speaking to Punknews about songwriting, guitarist and vocalist Alex Glendening said,
”A note on inspiration in songwriting on the album as a whole: I have come to visualize that inspiration in the songwriting process like making bread. What starts as flour, water, yeast, salt ends up folded over onto itself until it’s an unrecognizable, sticky, living mass. And my songwriting is the hand that folds and turns it. In that same respect, oftentimes my lyrics “quote things” in the same way. The quotes are meant to evoke the feelings and sentiments of the original text while now fractured and imbued with different flavors, textures, perspectives.”
We caught up with Alex to hear the stories behind each of the tracks. From Here to Ohio is available everywhere now via We Are Time. Deadbeat Beat will be playing their record release show tonight at Paris Bar in Detroit, and will be touring the US this month and next.
