This month, I would like to highlight the importance of research in our daily medical practice. The excellent title quoted above from CAO during their interview of our PAAO President, Dr. Carol Karp, points to the ways in which research helps us to learn new concepts and to further increase our efficiency and efficacy in the treatment of our patients.

I am so pleased to report on our most recent PAAO Regional Course, in collaboration with the Chilean Congress of Ophthalmology, which took place in Santiago, Chile from March 24 – 26. We had an excellent Congress with an overwhelming attendance and participation from over 27 different countries with speakers, exhibitors and poster presentations. This meeting once again highlighted the importance of collaboration, collegiality and how the PAAO inspires its members to uphold these values.

I hope many of you are preparing to meet in Santiago, Chile for our PAAO Regional Course. We are eager to see all of you and the Organizing Committee have been working very hard to organize, what will be, a successful and fruitful scientific meeting among colleagues and friends.
