  • 📣 The ECB Financial Stability Review is out, solidly grounded on our data and analytics! 🔍 Key insights of the review: 👉 Prolonged geopolitical tensions and lingering fiscal challenges could test financial market sentiment and expose sovereign vulnerabilities. 👉 Vulnerabilities among non-banks, including those active in private markets, could amplify stress in financial markets and increase the risk of cross-sector spillovers. 👉 Resilience in the banking sector has strengthened overall, but credit, liquidity and funding vulnerabilities could emerge given exposures to non-banks and energy- and trade-sensitive corporates. 📊 All supported by our data. Some examples: 🔹 Declining cash holdings suggest that investment funds may be more vulnerable to redemption shocks. The analysis is based on Balance Sheet Items (BSI) and Investment Funds Statistics (IVF) data. 🔹 Euro area banks' direct exposure to the Middle East remains limited, according to ECB supervisory data. As these data are the foundation of the analysis, we have also published the datasets and the charts, that can be downloaded from the ECB website – see the link in the first comment 👉 Read the Financial Stability Review: https://lnkd.in/djtBMPmS #ECB #ECBData #FinancialStability #FinancialMarkets #BankingSector #NonBanks #InvestmentFunds #SupervisoryData

Glad to share our box on "New indicators of the euro’s global appeal from the euro area international investment position" (with Linda Rousova and Roberto Gandolfi) which was released as part of the ECB’s annual report on the international role of the euro: https://lnkd.in/dYxiVsf6 📊Our new analytical indicators show that the international role of the euro has increased over the past decade: • By 2025, around one-third of euro area cross-border assets and two-thirds of external liabilities were denominated in euro. • Focusing on euro area cross-border liabilities, the euro’s share rose from 54% in 2015 to 66% in 2025, suggesting that the currency’s appeal to global investors has been growing over the past decade, largely at the expense of the US dollar. • Factors such as asset supply, interest rates, trade intensity, business sentiment towards Europe and policy uncertainty may shape the euro’s growing global appeal.
