Roy Orbison – Mystery Girl

Roy Orbison always was a great songwriter. Sorry, one of the greatest. Underrated more for his physique than his music had his best moment in early '60s when under Monument records. After years of familiar troubles and inspirational blocks he was able in the mid eighties to restore his career with a little help from his friends. Travelling Wilburys' adventure Pretty Woman's soundtrack did a lot of good for him. So in a positive time he found self confidence again and edited this excellent record. Jeff Lynne's production is a bit too glossy but songs shine anyway. Curious covers of U2 and Costello don't shadow his own brilliant compositions. Pressing and sound are very good

Not every song is great, but "You Got It", "The Comedians", "Careless Heart" and the majestic "She's A Mystery To Me" make this well worth a spot in my vinyl collection. This pressing sounds really good, warm and rich, one of the better DMM masters I've heard, with Orbison's vocals captured beautifully. My copy plays very quiet, nearly flawless save for a skip on "California Blue".

Excellent sounding pressing! DMM pressed at Allied, very warm and analog sounding. Very affordable as well. The vocals are stunning as you would expect with Roy.

My European edition is mastered by Kevin Gray, like the US one.

What an album! The sound is amazing (was raised with the cd, and this one sounds even better), and you feel that Roy Orbison knew exactly what he wanted from the musicians, and got it.
Add to that his unique, soft and melodic voice, and you're in for a treat.
Play the side A, and you'll run to flip the.disc and play the other side, which is equally as good.
Rare instance of an album being absolutely perfect, in that every song is a work of art that can't be bettered. Special mention to "She's a mistery to me", written by Bono, as it is magical; it has a guitar-drums combo riff that I could listen to, on a loop, until my time comes.

Must to have album for every music lover.
For me it is one of the top ten albums ever produced.

Just picked up this re-issue new/sealed for short money and it sounds great! Kevin Gray has not disappointed me yet although there was a tiny bit of noise that could have been static from the included card paper sleeves. I was worried seeing how this was pressed at United but the music was full, dynamic and Roy’s voice just gave me chills. Cant believe he was only 52 when we lost him.

So cheaply put together,no gatefold,liner notes, same picture on all four sides of inner sleeves.Roy deserves better but the music is superb.Such a shame and so lazy of his management

That great soaring voice that was so uniquely Roy Orbison. One note and you know who it is. Even with all the decades of Roy's recordings, there was something special about the first Traveling Wilburys Handle with Care, and some of that sound carries over to this record. A pleasure to listen to.

The funny part of the documentary, where no one wanted to sing after Roy, because he was a tough act to follow... and all those legendary unique voices saying that.

Now with Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty gone we have these great recordings where they all came together.
