Black Friday is now a state of mind rather than actual day on the calendar, which this year is Friday, Nov. 24.
But as a marketing tool Black Friday and Cyber Monday — this year Nov. 27 — are still useful. Several restaurant chains are using them to offer bonuses to people who buy gift cards.

Polly’s Pies: This casual service chain is known for its takeout pies, but it also sells bake-at-home pies online. Customers who make a bake-at-home purchase on Nov. 24 can get a free 12-pack of dinner rolls thrown in.
