And we’re almost caught up with my TikTok live reactions! In this episode, we close off the Kuro and Meeting Usopp arc. But before that, people with social lives, how do you balance that with things like watching TV and/or blogging. I went out One Day and suddenly had no time to watch anything anymore, LOL. I mean, I also try to be considerate of my neighbors so I don’t really watch anything after 9pm because I know…I can get loud, hehe. But still, I didn’t realize socializing wasn’t a 1-2 hour thing. When you commit, you commit for the Whole Day (!!)
Since this is technically a live reaction...spoilers!
Here’s the breakdown:
- In this episode, we finally get pirate Kuro!
- Someone’s finally awake! Come on Zoro! I know you can get out of there!
- Why do I suddenly want to hear Eye of the Tiger, LOL. But like, having those flashbacks while he’s trying to climb out? Nice. I didn’t think we’d be getting more
- Really feeling the pressure of his rival like damn, she means Business
- Baby Zoro is so cute but GOD, he’s just as clueless in the liveaction as he is in the books. The whole “gender doesn’t matter” response he gives, like, bro. Your swordsmanship isn’t the only thing that’s not ready
- SO glad they didn’t say how she died. That was one of the things I didn’t like in the manga. How is it that a master swordswoman died from falling? How the heck did she Fall?! Unbelievable
- I really want to know why Luffy survived eating all that when it was supposedly poisoned. I think it’s because he’s made of rubber but that still doesn’t really explain it, LOL
- Considering the changes to the story, I’m glad Luffy was given to the Marines. I think he really needed to walk that stuff off. He wouldn’t have been much use to Zoro in the well
- Awwww. At least Coby tried to keep Luffy there but he’s 100 years too baby to really do anything about it, LOL
- I’m really surprised that Only Four marines actually went to the town to try and collect Luffy. Like, why??
- Also, the son with the bad haircut (i should probably learn his name, he looks like he’s going to be around for a while)…what he said was harsh but the more I think about it, the more I agree with him. And I hate it! Coby doesn’t deserve this T-T
- (Still hoping he changes sides at some point….)
- The Music!! I know I’ve written quite a bit but honestly, I was just gaping the whole time and trying to be one with the walls in the hope that Kuro wouldn’t find Me
- He’s a really good villain! I take back my disappointment. He grew on me, LOL
- Seeing how Luffy and Zoro got back into the manor…like, ok, I can understand Kaya’s family (non-pirates) to think it could keep people out, but it was Kuro who activated it. Did he really think it would keep them out? (Or, I guess he thought he’d gotten rid of them and was therefore only safeguarding against normal people?? idk)
- I really liked that they kept the part where Kuro is like I was tired of being a fugitive but also, he was kind of whiny, LOL. Mocking Kaya like that. Did he do that in the manga too? Idr, but it definitely hits a bit harder here
- The line where Luffy is like “you don’t deserve to call yourself a pirate” always makes me feel ick. Like, you have to Really Want to be a pirate your whole life because it’s tough. And it sounds like Kuro was a pirate for many years. I can understand that he got tired of being chased by everyone (tho yeah he’s def one of the bad ones soooo)
- I think I always sympathized with Kuro and a small part of me even wanted him to succeed in getting away
- Idr if the kiss happens in the manga BUT HECK YEAH THAT WAS CUTE. I’m kind of sad that they had to part too.
But also that slap, I get it, she didn’t want to believe but maybe an apology?? - EHERM, LUFFY. Are you implying she should have kissed you instead because You’re the captain?? Was not expecting that, LOL
- Oh snap! They just got the ship and they’re already being hit!
- GRANDPA?!
There was A Lot happening in this episode. The more important one happening at the end. I could Not with that cliffhanger so I cheated and watched the first few minutes of the next episode, LOL. But I’ll keep to this episode. While watching the episodes, I can’t help but make some comparisons to the books and right now I’m a bit worried about Zoro’s character. He’s just not at the level to face off against any badass of the seas, which I know will be coming up soon. I mean, he had trouble with the two cats from Kuro’s crew. At one point, I even thought he was going to fight with all three of his swords
I’m also conflicted about Kuro. I wouldn’t mind seeing him again, clearly he won me over in this episode, but this potentially “got my ass kicked by Luffy” gang is getting too strong (IMO). Also, I’m assuming he might join them, nothing was confirmed, but I doubt he’s just going to take defeat lying down. I also was curious what he would have done if his plans had gone through? In the books, he had his old crew help by staging a pirate attack on the town so that he’d be free of blame (or so he wouldn’t be suspicious) but here he locked himself in her home and was going to murder her. How would he have explained things to the townspeople?
There was also Usopp. I belatedly realized that he didn’t really shine. In the books, he is a coward but he does (from the bit I remember) get the courage to fight back/stand up to Kuro. Here he kind of just runs. Yeah, he helps Kaya but also, he didn’t really get much of a spotlight
LMK your thoughts on this episode~
