We are delighted to announce that Nokia Foundation has granted its 2023 recognition award to Professor Emeritus Antti Räisänen from Aalto University. Professor Räisänen is a pioneer in the scientific research of higher radio frequencies and is known for his relentless passion for developing radio engineering education. Nokia Foundation, which promotes and supports Finnish scientific development and teaching, gave the award to Professor Räisänen at its 28th annual award ceremony this evening. The Foundation has conferred 1,960 grants since its inception. In 2023, it will grant scholarships and awards totaling approximately 465,000 euros. Thanks to the hard work of Nokia inventors and our patenting experts we recently passed the milestone of 6,000 patent families declared as essential to 5G. These inventions enable enhanced experiences, extended services, and improved operations for smart devices, IoT devices, and connected cars.   We are pleased to have reached this landmark but really it is the quantity of high-quality patents that matters when it comes to the strength of a 5G patent portfolio.
