    Dems are going to try to find other big emission reductions, but ultimately you're circling around an unsolvable problem. The only way to get rapid near-term reductions is by closing FF power plants & building out renewables. Manchin opposes *that goal*, not the means.

    Manchin's premise is that coal & natural gas plants should be allowed to run until they can be outfitted with CCS. That's delusional -- it will never be economic & if we wait that long we're toast. The debate over mechanisms is somewhat beside the point; there's no shared goal.

    last thing I'll say is that more significant than the small gains some workers are getting--which don't begin to make up for decades of stagnant wages--is how it feels to watch your employer's profits balloon, knowing what they put you and your family through during the pandemic

    Frustrating but also inevitable. It's what always happens and what always will happen absent some inconceivable upheaval in the political and social order that disempowers these cynical monsters which.... well I ain't holding my breath that is for sure.

    It’s frustrating to watch the city officials on the “crisis intervention task force” co-opt, defang, disregard and erase the organizing work that has gone into … like absolutely enraging, disgusting. But this is what they do. We deserve better.

    Watching the process the past two weeks has brought me back to this article… Setting aside specific issues/critiques/ mischaracterizations of the OPPRC side of this campaign- I really do think this piece was prescient and deeply important for anticipating city council’s MO…

    One of the features in our September issue explores the “Help Not Handcuffs” campaign and those organizations and people who support it. The authors began with a series of questions and went where the story took them, without an agenda.
