Snort. My dogs got freaked out just by the sounds from the vid. Via Sullivan.

Couldn't my former governor [sic] Arnold Schwarzenegger have just left it at "Hasta la vista, baby"? But nooo, he had to go and revive "I'll be back" instead.
Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) might challenge the law to try and run for president in 2016, according to the New York Post.
The paper said the actor might launch a legal challenge to the section of the Constitution barring foreign-born citizens from becoming commander in chief.
Schwarzenegger was born in Austria and became a U.S. citizen in 1983.
Of course, you just know that hypocritical Republicans would whisper that this sounds like a swell idea from one side of their mouths as the other side accuses President Obama of being an evil commie Marxist fascist socialist illegitimate Kenyan commander in chief.
Approving any amendment to the Constitution, by the way, would require a two-thirds majority in the House and Senate.
But Ahnold doesn't care. According to New York Post, he "has been talking openly about working on getting the constitutional rules changed so he can run for president in 2016. He is ready to file legal paperwork to challenge the rules."
Although it's tempting to feel relief that our government is restarting, we must recognize the irreparable damage that's occurred in the last 16 days.
A small, extremist faction of Republicans put people out of work, bruised our international reputation, desensitized us toward the ploy of brinkmanship and made us a more cynical nation.
California voters are fortunate to have congressional representatives who are, in general, balanced and represent us well. But we can't be complacent any longer. We can't accept another such crisis in a mere matter of months; we must all be more involved in the political process.
We need to join grass-roots organizations, communicate with our elected officials and make our voices heard. Activism is not just an option to a nation at risk.

I've watched several GOP members of Congress on TV recently. Their language is, in many cases, a distortion of the facts, a mythical view of the economy and often plain nonsense.
They have a totally different set of figures for the GDP, the national debt and the economic loss incurred in the most recent shutdown. They refer to President Obama as “stubborn” and “refusing to negotiate” and other perspectives not in sync with reality.
They make it sound as if the national debt was created in the last four years and was not the result of decades of taxation and spending approved by Congress.
Their constant referral to “the American people” sounds as if the GOP won the last national election. They claim “victory” by saying they “stood up to the president.”
But they didn't fool or convince the voters in 2012 and probably won't in 2016.

Having voted as a Republican in every election since 1952, I have decided to express my opinion of the GOP's recent surrender to the tea party by changing my registration away from the Republican Party. Perhaps if a sufficient number of other pragmatic folks do the same, we can get some sanity back in Washington.

Can the people of the United States sue Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and the Republicans for the billions of dollars lost due to their shutdown?

Republican donors were horrified in November after pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into campaigns for president and Congress with nothing to show for it. A year later they’re appalled by how little has changed, angered by the behavior of Republican lawmakers during a string of legislative battles this year capped by the shutdown, and searching for answers.
In conversation after conversation, donors express growing frustration with the party and the constellation of outside groups they’ve been bankrolling. After getting squeezed last year by an array of campaign committees, party committees and disparate super PACs, many of them are still sitting on their checkbooks — a worrisome sign for the party with the 2014 midterm elections fast approaching.
This caught my eye: The mega-kajillionaires on the right are now into "improving the quality of Republican candidates in the hopes of avoiding more Todd Akin-like candidates who blow eminently winnable races."
Gee, why would anyone want to avoid someone like Todd Akin?
Still, some donors think the reluctance about giving among their ranks may have reached an inflection point over the way a number of Republicans in Washington acquitted themselves the past few weeks.
One of my favorite parts of Haberman's piece was how Karl Rove's Crossroads groups "are among those feeling the hardest pinch." Their fundraising took a big hit.
Walmart may, like God, be everywhere. Yet unlike the Lord, they don't possess a Christian heart. They don't believe in biblical teachings if the following passages are still considered part of the good book:
Philippians 2:4 - Look out for Others Interests
do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
Hebrews 13:16 - Doing Good and Sharing
And do not neglect doing good and sharing; for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Galatians 6:2 - Help with Burdens of others
Bear one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ.
Now I'm not religious, and you needn't be either to understand that doing something to help someone in trouble is considered loosely, "the Christian thing to do."
What do you call someone who, on his lunch break, sees a stranger being accosted and forgoes his own safety and intervenes? A hero? A good Samaritan? Walmart calls him "fired."
HARTLAND, MI (WXYZ) - "The last thing I expected was to not have a job," said Kristopher Oswald, 30, who was fired from Walmart this week after he intervened to help a woman who was apparently being assaulted in the parking lot of the store.
Oswald, who worked stocking pet food on the overnight shift at Walmart, was spending his lunch break in his car when he heard a woman screaming and a man hanging onto the hood of her car.
At first, Oswald wondered if it was just people horsing around recklessly, but when he walked over to see if the woman was really in danger, he says the man began to attack him, punching him in the head while yelling "I'm going to kill you".
So Kristopher jumped into action, fled the store to help and here's the story in his own words:
With brave actions like his, Walmart should have made him Employee of the Month, not unemployed of the future. I'm not shopping Walmart for a number of reasons -- but they all stem from how they treat their employees. This outrageous action by Walmart moves to the top of that complaints list.
Tea Partier, birther, and Freedomwatch Founder Larry Klayman said this about politicians: "They’re all whores."
Martin Bashir tried to narrow the name-calling down to either Rafael "Ted" Cruz or Mitch McConnell. Klayman singled out McConnell. He then quoted Thomas Jefferson, to which Bashir's guest reminded him, "Mr. Jefferson was a racist."
He and Bashir really went at it, but Klayman was no match for Bashir. Okay, that's a given. Seriously, why can't more hosts challenge idiots, racists, and liars like Klayman the way Bashir just did? He was masterful:
Mr. Klayman, what evidence do you have to support these repugnant smears and slurs? Have you asked the president if he was a Muslim? ... What is your evidence?
Hypocrite Klayman's answer:
Those references were metaphoric. But they ring true.
Bashir:
How would you defend yourself if accused of being a delusional racist whose hatred for this president is in fact a form of psychiatric pathology, an illness? ... We have people who would regard you in exactly that way. "Metaphorically," as you put it. How do you defend yourself against the accusation that you're a repugnant racist whose hatred for the president of the United States, the current president, dominates every single aspect of your life?
Klayman:
...You are prone to exaggeration.
But my favorite Bashir comeback was:
Who's the whore now?
Of course, having such a huge vocabulary and a wonderful way with words plus that lovely accent made him even more effective. Kudos.
