Another busy day here, including court. And then the snow is expected to fall by Friday. I'm trying all sorts of moving Apps from Apple's App Store to make the moving process go easier, but none so far have been a great help. Room planners, which a bunch of furniture stores provide for free, are just as good, but eat up too many hours of my time.
I did finally pick a storage unit. This company seems head and shoulders above the rest. The building is new, the units are as clean as a house, plentiful staff, and indoor, climate controlled units. When you sign up, they give you two hours of movers with a van, to move your stuff into storage. That's a huge help. Hardly cheap though.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's lawyers have filed a motion to end the SAMS restrictions on Tsarnaev and his legal team.
The SAMS imposed on Tsarnaev are attached to the motion as an exhibit. Take a minute to read them. But for all the alphabet references to federal agencies, I would have thought the jail was in Russia. The motion is here.
The documents also contain some interesting Government theories about Dzhokhar, some of which are at odds with other information released by the Government (the motion discusses this aspect.)

The travails of Silk Road owner Dread Pirate Roberts is an interesting tale. Bitcoins, internet drug sales and now contract hits are alleged.

As many have been saying for years, the Global war on drugs has been an epic failure:
The International Centre for Science in Drug Policy said its report suggested the war on drugs had failed. The report, published in the British Medical Journal Open, looked at data from seven international government-funded drug surveillance systems.

I think I'll be very happy with the view of my new home -- the patio is 445 sq ft and has views of south, west and east. Now I just have to do the hard part: Moving.
I should be moving the 17 to 19 (no way can this be done in a day.)
Since I havn't see the news, here's an open thread, all topics welcome.

Republicans are stupid. They shut the Government down. The public will be unforgiving.
Boehner refused to yield. He instead won approval, in a 1 a.m. largely party-line roll call, requesting a special House-Senate committee to meet in the coming days to resolve differences between the two parties, leaving in limbo the fate of millions of federal workers and the services they provide.

The countdown begins. Will Republicans let the country fall apart? We've been down to wire several times in recent years but the media isn't holding out much hope for a compromise. From the NY Times:[More...]

This may be everyone elses Monday, but mine, metaphorically speaking, not literally, feels like this.
After a week buried in Craig's List, Zillow and Trulia, I see only one option for a place to live. I will probably sign the lease today. Then the real fun begins: Going through 3,000 sq ft of stuff to pare it down to what will fit in 1700 sq ft, get mover and storage estimates, and then start making rooms filled with stuff going to each one, as well as good will and other charities. Tonight is the final night of an unprecedentedly great final season of Breaking Bad, the best final season ever imo.
I started watching Breaking Bad on Jeralyn's recommendation, and I liked it immediately. But the final season has been sublime.
I hope the finale sustains that level. In any event, Vince Gilligan, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn and all the rest have left a body of work to be proud of.
Open Thread.
Update (TL): Best finale ever.

The Senate passed a funding bill to avoid a government shutdown. The Senate bill did not strike "Obamacare." It now goes back to the House.
I just got an email from the federal court in Nebraska with their shut-down plan if a funding bill does not pass. You can read it here. I haven't received one yet for Colorado. Here's the memo the federal courts administrative office issued on Sept. 25.

This past week has been the longest hiatus from blogging I've taken in 11 years. But, sometimes real life intervenes and puts blogging in its place, forcing us to remember that blogging is a hobby, not a business, and it's not the top priority. For me, this is one of those times.
Usually I can easily blog despite work commitments -- I just trade off watching TV at night. But this week (and next) my time is being consumed by matters I had no reason to anticipate and I have no time for blogging or TV. I just found out I have to move from my home -- in two weeks. [More...]
