The destruction of Syria, in many forms, is proceeding according to plan and on time. When the Western powers and their pals, the oil oligarchs, target your country, it’s time to run just as fast as you can.
I wrote Welcome to the New Syria on August 27, 2012. Based on known events and outcomes from the UN-NATO military action against Libya, I offered a number of predictions about the governance of the New Syria presuming a victory by Syrian rebels. At that time, the United States, Turkey, the United Kingdom, France and Gulf oligarchies, Qatar in particular, were full of themselves for their destruction of Libya in the name of democracy and progress. Given the Libya template, it seemed obvious the following would occur in Syria.
Unfortunately, four of the six post-Assad predictions have come true even though the Syrian government retains power. The predictions in the article are quoted below with italicized links. The reporting demonstrates that even with the Syrian government in place, the rebels have done an exceptionally efficient job of inflicting horrors on those parts of the nation under their control. Seymour Hersh’s interview with The Guardian is absolutely explosive. He states that the story about the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden is nothing but lies. He castigates the press, particularly editors, who do nothing to challenge the administration. Hersh recommends that the major television news operations shut down for bureaus here and overseas and simply start over. The interview is terrific. Unfortunately, he’s not giving up his evidence on the Bin Laden lies until his book is published.
“The Obama administration lies systematically, he claims, yet none of the leviathans of American media, the TV networks or big print titles, challenge him.
“Don’t even get him started on the New York Times which, he says, spends “so much more time carrying water for Obama than I ever thought they would” – or the death of Osama bin Laden. “Nothing’s been done about that story, it’s one big lie, not one word of it is true,” he says of the dramatic US Navy Seals raid in 2011.
So, how is it that nobody on Wall Street gets prosecuted for the biggest theft imaginable? Here’s a big part of the answer.
The Wall Street Protection Racket: Pay the Government Fines and Bankers Don’t Get Prosecuted By Mark Karlin, Editor Buzzflash at TruthOut
Isn’t it unfair that people who kite checks can’t get away with “a rare admission of wrongdoing by JPMorgan”? Don’t such people get prosecuted and tried in court? Not so for the masters of the universe on Wall Street. They are “made men” and instead of prison, they are allowed to voluntarily admit wrongdoing and walk away.
All across America, Wall Street is grabbing money meant for public workers
Rolling Stone, By Matt Taibbi, September 26
In the final months of 2011, almost two years before the city of Detroit would shock America by declaring bankruptcy in the face of what it claimed were insurmountable pension costs, the state of Rhode Island took bold action to avert what it called its own looming pension crisis. Led by its newly elected treasurer, Gina Raimondo – an ostentatiously ambitious 42-year-old Rhodes scholar and former venture capitalist – the state declared war on public pensions, ramming through an ingenious new law slashing benefits of state employees with a speed and ferocity seldom before seen by any local government. Stockholm — For the first time, the world’s top climate scientists on Friday formally embraced an upper limit on greenhouse gases while warning that it is likely to be exceeded within decades if emissions continue at a brisk pace, underscoring the profound challenge humanity faces in bringing global warming under control.
A panel of experts appointed by the United Nations, unveiling its latest assessment of climate research, reinforced its earlier conclusions that global warming is real, that it is caused primarily if not exclusively by human emissions, and that it is likely to get substantially worse unless efforts to limit those emissions are rapidly accelerated.
“Human influence has been detected in warming of the atmosphere and the ocean, in changes in the global water cycle, in reductions in snow and ice, in global mean sea level rise, and in changes in some climate extremes,” the report said. “It is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century.” Continue reading Climate Panel Says Upper Limit on Emissions Is Nearing
Vladimir Putin was endorsed by nearly 50% of United States citizens polled on the most effective leader during the attack Syria crisis. Putin topped President Barack Obama by 24 points. While scoring in single digits, Syrian President Bashir al-Assad got a 9% endorsement as the most effective leader, ahead of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and French President Francois Hollande.
No comment yet from the White House on the poll results. However, one must wonder if there are yearnings for Putin endorsements by Democratic House and Senate candidates in upcoming elections.
There were complaints my last rice pudding recipe took too long to make.
Thus rice pudding again, only quicker – from C.S.Lewis.
(an a thought for your day)
Dear God, Why do bad things happen to good people?
You may recall a story from a few weeks ago about a NYC cab jumping a curb and hitting a British tourist, mangling her lower leg and forcing it to eb amputated. Her life was saved by a passerby who quickly wrapped his belt around her leg as a tourniquet before paramedics could scoot her to a hospital.
Thirteen “good rebel” groups have defected to the Al Qaeda dominated fighters in the attack on Syria. If this proves out, it is, according to Syria Comment, a very “big deal.” It’s more than that, it is a devastating game changer.
These are leading groups in northern Syria, in and around Aleppo, the next target for the Assad regime’s effort to secure the nation. The alliance pulls the rug from under the Obama – Kerry argument that we can arm the rebels while excluding the “bad” dlements. In the north, they should all be considered “bad” (unless one is a fan of Al Qaeda).
The self-employed have been screwed on health insurance for years, particularly since the Obamacare (Affordable Healthcare Act) was introduced. Private insurers stole every dollar they could in premium increases, denied claims, and created backroom foul ups that discouraged those seeking legitimate reimbursement.
When the Obamacare insurance exchanges open up October 1, there will be some real relief across the board for the self-employed. Unlike 80% of the marketplace covered by either employer funded health plans or Medicare, the self-employed buy direct from the insurance companies.
This can be anywhere from draining to ruinous financially. Those low premium, $200 a month plans carry with them a $20,000 or so annual deductible. The $2,000 to $3,000 a month plan premiums have a lower deductible $500 to $2000 annually. Unfortunately, it all ends up the same – you’re screwed by the costs or forced to become truly at risk by dropping health insurance altogether. (IHT) – A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit southwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, killing hundreds in Balochistan, besides creating a new island off the Gwadar coastline in its wake, Express News reported.
Tremors were felt as far as the Indian capital New Delhi.
The Deputy Speaker Balochistan Assembly stated that at least 150 people had died from the disaster in the province.
LATEST UPDATE: Death toll rises to 250 in Balochistan earthquake
Republican Ted Cruz of Texas was still on the Senate floor talking Wednesday– a dramatic step in defense of his high profile and controversial plan to prevent any funding for Obamacare.
“I intend to speak in support of defunding Obamacare until I am no longer able to stand,” he said
Tuesday. “All across this country, Americans are suffering because of Obamacare. Obamacare isn’t working.”
Of course, he’s wrong: Obamacare isn’t working, it’s true. That’s because it hasn’t been implemented yet. But no one is suffering. In fact, they are thriving and will thrive even more.
