Hersh on Osama raid – “one big lie”

Seymour Hersh’s interview with The Guardian is absolutely explosive.  He states that the story about the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden is nothing but lies.  He castigates the press, particularly editors, who do nothing to challenge the administration.  Hersh recommends that the major television news operations shut down for bureaus here and overseas and simply start over.  The interview is terrific.  Unfortunately, he’s not giving up his evidence on the Bin Laden lies until his book is published.

Seymour Hersh interview – The Guardian, September 28

“The Obama administration lies systematically, he claims, yet none of the leviathans of American media, the TV networks or big print titles, challenge him.

“Don’t even get him started on the New York Times which, he says, spends “so much more time carrying water for Obama than I ever thought they would” – or the death of Osama bin Laden. “Nothing’s been done about that story, it’s one big lie, not one word of it is true,” he says of the dramatic US Navy Seals raid in 2011.

Ever wonder – The Wall Street Protection Racket: Pay the Government Fines and Bankers Don’t Get Prosecuted

So, how is it that nobody on Wall Street gets prosecuted for the biggest theft imaginable? Here’s a big part of the answer.

The Wall Street Protection Racket: Pay the Government Fines and Bankers Don’t Get Prosecuted  By Mark Karlin, Editor Buzzflash at TruthOut

Isn’t it unfair that people who kite checks can’t get away with “a rare admission of wrongdoing by JPMorgan”? Don’t such people get prosecuted and tried in court? Not so for the masters of the universe on Wall Street. They are “made men” and instead of prison, they are allowed to voluntarily admit wrongdoing and walk away.

Looting the Pension Funds

It's the Money Party in action!

It’s the Money Party in action!

All across America, Wall Street is grabbing money meant for public workers

Rolling Stone, By Matt Taibbi, September 26

In the final months of 2011, almost two years before the city of Detroit would shock America by declaring bankruptcy in the face of what it claimed were insurmountable pension costs, the state of Rhode Island took bold action to avert what it called its own looming pension crisis. Led by its newly elected treasurer, Gina Raimondo – an ostentatiously ambitious 42-year-old Rhodes scholar and former venture capitalist – the state declared war on public pensions, ramming through an ingenious new law slashing benefits of state employees with a speed and ferocity seldom before seen by any local government.  Continue reading Looting the Pension Funds

Climate Panel Says Upper Limit on Emissions Is Nearing

New York Times, By Justin Gillis, September 27

Stockholm — For the first time, the world’s top climate scientists on Friday formally embraced an upper limit on greenhouse gases while warning that it is likely to be exceeded within decades if emissions continue at a brisk pace, underscoring the profound challenge humanity faces in bringing global warming under control.

A panel of experts appointed by the United Nations, unveiling its latest assessment of climate research, reinforced its earlier conclusions that global warming is real, that it is caused primarily if not exclusively by human emissions, and that it is likely to get substantially worse unless efforts to limit those emissions are rapidly accelerated.

“Human influence has been detected in warming of the atmosphere and the ocean, in changes in the global water cycle, in reductions in snow and ice, in global mean sea level rise, and in changes in some climate extremes,” the report said. “It is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century.”

Putin over Obama, Assad trumps Cameron and Hollande – Poll on Syria Deal

Vladimir Putin was endorsed by nearly 50% of United States citizens polled on the most effective leader during the attack Syria crisis.  Putin topped President Barack Obama by 24 points.  While scoring in single digits, Syrian President Bashir al-Assad got a 9% endorsement as the most effective leader, ahead of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and French President Francois Hollande.

No comment yet from the White House on the  poll results.  However, one must wonder if there are  yearnings for Putin endorsements by Democratic House and Senate candidates in upcoming elections.

The results are little surprise.  Obama’s job approval rating has hovered between 43% and 47% since the start of September.  While the president’s performance is less than stellar it could be worse. Continue reading Putin over Obama, Assad trumps Cameron and Hollande – Poll on Syria Deal

Something’s Not Right Here

BERJAYA

Dear God, Why do bad things happen to good people?

You may recall a story from a few weeks ago about a NYC cab jumping a curb and hitting a British tourist, mangling her lower leg and forcing it to eb amputated. Her life was saved by a passerby who quickly wrapped his belt around her leg as a tourniquet before paramedics could scoot her to a hospital.

Good rebels defect to “bad” rebels in northern Syria – bad news for Obama-Kerry

Thirteen “good rebel” groups have defected to the Al Qaeda dominated fighters in the attack on Syria. If this proves out, it is, according to Syria Comment, a very “big deal.” It’s more than that, it is a devastating game changer.

These are leading groups in northern Syria, in and around Aleppo, the next target for the Assad regime’s effort to secure the nation. The alliance pulls the rug from under the Obama – Kerry argument that we can arm the rebels while excluding the “bad” dlements. In the north, they should all be considered “bad” (unless one is a fan of Al Qaeda).

Rebels disown opposition backed by West in Syria.
Erika Solomon BEIRUT for heraldscotland

THOUSANDS of Syrian rebels have broken with the Western-backed coalition to form a new Islamist force that may pressure President Bashar al Assad but also undermine the West’s hopes of putting its friends in his place.  Continue reading Good rebels defect to “bad” rebels in northern Syria – bad news for Obama-Kerry

The Self-Employed and Obamacare – Real Relief

The self-employed have been screwed on health insurance for years, particularly since the Obamacare (Affordable Healthcare Act) was introduced.  Private insurers stole every dollar they could in premium increases, denied claims, and created backroom foul ups that discouraged those seeking legitimate reimbursement.

When the Obamacare insurance exchanges open up October 1, there will be some real relief across the board for the self-employed.  Unlike 80% of the marketplace covered by either employer funded health plans or Medicare, the self-employed buy direct from the insurance companies.

This can be anywhere from draining to ruinous financially.  Those low premium, $200 a month plans carry with them a $20,000 or so annual deductible.  The $2,000 to $3,000 a month plan premiums have a lower deductible $500 to $2000 annually.  Unfortunately, it all ends up the same – you’re screwed by the costs or forced to become truly at risk by dropping  health insurance altogether.  Continue reading The Self-Employed and Obamacare – Real Relief

Someone Should Kick His Legs Out

I’ll give Ted Cruz credit for one thing, and one thing only: he’s not making a bullshit filibuster:

BERJAYA

Would You Buy A Used Car From This Man?

Republican Ted Cruz of Texas was still on the Senate floor talking Wednesday– a dramatic step in defense of his high profile and controversial plan to prevent any funding for Obamacare.

“I intend to speak in support of defunding Obamacare until I am no longer able to stand,” he said

Tuesday. “All across this country, Americans are suffering because of Obamacare. Obamacare isn’t working.”

Of course, he’s wrong: Obamacare isn’t working, it’s true. That’s because it hasn’t been implemented yet. But no one is suffering. In fact, they are thriving and will thrive even more.

Robert Parry asks – Should Cruise Missiles Target Saudis?

Over at ConsortiumNews.com, Robert Parry has done an outstanding job of covering the Syrian conflict.  He’s offered his Swiftian question is the spirit of intellectual honesty.  Saudi Arabia is a threat to peace based on the oil kingdom’s behavior in Syria and also with Russia’s President Vladamir Putin.

“September 23, 2013 Exclusive by Robert Parry: Saudi Arabia – confident in its leverage over energy and finance and emboldened by a de facto  regional alliance with Israel – is throwing its weight around with threats against Russia. But this muscle-flexing is drawing a tough reaction from President Putin, reports Robert Parry.

“All across Official Washington – from politicians to pundits – there has been much swaggering about the geopolitical value of threatening to bomb people as a way to extract concessions and enforce compliance. Think Syria on chemical weapons and Iran regarding its nuclear program. So, if that’s the case, maybe it’s time to put “on the table” a bombing threat against Saudi Arabia.

“It now appears that the primary obstacle to peace talks that could resolve the bloody Syrian civil war is the obstruction from al-Qaeda-connected jihadists who are beholden for their military and financial support to Saudi Arabia and other oil sheikdoms operating under Saudi Arabia’s political/diplomatic wing.” Should Cruise Missiles target Saudis, Robert Parry, August 22   Continue reading Robert Parry asks – Should Cruise Missiles Target Saudis?

Well, Now This Is Interesting

President Obama made an overture to Iran today at the United Nations:

BERJAYA“This mistrust has deep roots. Iranians have long complained of a history of US interference in their affairs, and America’s role in overthrowing an Iranian government during the cold war.”

This is the first official acknowledgement of CIA involvement in the 1953 coup that overthrew the very popular elected leader of Iran, Mohammad Mosaddegh, who was friendly towards the Soviet Union, and installing an ally in the Shah.

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting.
