The Stanley Parable Remake Has a Message For Members Of The Internet

By Katie Williams | PC News | Jun 2, 2012 11:29 AM | Comment

You played last year's brain-blistering Source mod The Stanley Parable, right? I'm still not sure what the heck happened in that game. Or why that narrator had a narrator. Or what other games it ripped limbs from and tried to affix to itself so it could parade around passing said mangled limbs off as its own as casually as a zombie wearing a party hat. In any case, less than a year after release, developer Davey Wreden is working on a remake -- and if he's to be believed, the game's faceless narrator has gone behind his back and leaked this first video footage to the entire internet. SimCity: A World Full Of Life (To Destroy) in February

By Katie Williams | PC News | Jun 2, 2012 8:45 AM | Comment

SimCity was one of the key games of my childhood. There was just something joyous about connecting underground piping, sculpting crappy apartment blocks into mansions, and then burning everything down as my single-digit-aged self cackled maniacally. Over two decades later, we'll be able to do all of that again with the newest SimCity game, which now has a confirmed release date of February 2013. To celebrate, EA has revealed three new screens. Home Brings Home The Horror

By Katie Williams | PC News | Jun 2, 2012 12:24 AM | Comment

Okay, I'm hoping you've left your catching up of GameSpy news till a late enough hour that the sun has already fizzled out and everyone normal in your house has gone to sleep, because it's time for you to play Home. The (almost predictably pixelly) indie horror-adventure was released yesterday, and this launch trailer promises some intriguing storytelling. Also: scares aplenty. Read More »

Civilization 5 Getting Steam Workshop Support

By Dan Stapleton | PC News | Jun 1, 2012 5:21 PM | Comment

Civilization 5 always had a pretty cool built-in mod download and installation system, but now, with the Gods & Kings expansion coming soon, Firaxis has announced it's overhauling it to merge with Valve's Steam Workshop. No date has been set yet, but it appears as though all Civ 5 owners will get the upgrade in an upcoming patch, not just expansion buyers. Read More »

Free Agent: Moon Breakers

By Nathan Grayson | PC Articles | Jun 1, 2012 5:10 PM | Comment

GameSpy's Free Agent is your advance recon into the world of free-to-play games. His mission: jump into a free game every week and put in some hours to see how much fun can be had without spending a cent, then try out some paid items to see if they're worth the asking price. This week, he's taking to the stars in spaceship shooter Moon Breakers. But will he rise to the top of the dogfighting heap, or will he crash and burn, leaving a moon-sized crater in his wallet? War of The Roses Trailer Suits Up for E3

By Dan Stapleton | PC News | Jun 1, 2012 4:08 PM | Comment

After watching last week's Game of Thrones with the Battle of the Blackwater, I've got a hankering for some brutal medieval melee. Thus this almost-E3 trailer shows off a little bit of War of the Roses' "medieval Call of Duty" multiplayer action, including plenty of stabbings, beheadings, tramplings, and arrows to the face, has arrived at a very good time. On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 Gets a July Release Date

By Mike Sharkey | PC News | Jun 1, 2012 12:57 PM | Comment

Cthulhu Saves the World developer Zeboyd Games is now at the helm of Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness series, and for the third chapter of the Gabe and Tycho adventure, they're injecting their signature pixelated style and menu-driven RPG gameplay (two terrific changes, if you ask this gamer). And now we know when we'll be able to play it. Hit the jump for the release date. Read More »

Ron Gilbert's Favorite Memories From Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, and Freddi Fish

By Mike Nelson | PC Articles | Jun 1, 2012 11:45 AM | Comment

Last week we learned that legendary adventure game designer Ron Gilbert has a new puzzle-adventure in the works at Double Fine called The Cave. While most details remain under wraps, it's no secret that Gilbert has created a long list of quality adventure games over the past 25 years, and in turn giving all of us a ton of great memories. So we thought now would be an opportune time to ask Gilbert about some of his favorite memories from some of his most popular games. Here's what he had to say. Read More »

Presenting The Ladies of PlanetSide 2

By Katie Williams | PC News | Jun 1, 2012 10:17 AM | Comment

I'm not sure if anyone was particularly concerned that PlanetSide 2 might contain a gender imbalance. I mean, that last trailer didn't show much in the way of people, let alone those of any specific sex. Heat-seeking missiles don't discriminate, y'know -- we're all made of the same pitiable people-flesh. In any case, Sony Online has helpfully revealed the playable women characters who'll be joining the fight to fight other fighters. Read More »

Update: Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is Coming to PC Afterall

By Mike Nelson | PC News | Jun 1, 2012 10:08 AM | Comment

Update: We've confirmed with Activision that Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is the first console-to-PC port that developer Mercenary Technology (previously listed as Mercenary Games) has ever worked on. Mercenary is composed of industry veterans who have worked on a variety of individual projects over their careers (which is a very robust resume), but since forming their own development studio in 2010, they've only worked on a handful of console and Android ports together. EA Unveils Need for Speed Most Wanted

By Mike Sharkey | PC News | Jun 1, 2012 9:52 AM | Comment

Why wait for E3 to begin in a few days when you can make surprise unveils now! I'm not sure why Electronic Arts chose not to wait, but it didn't, and now we know this: the next installment in the long-running Need for Speed racing franchise is Most Wanted. Yes, there was already another Need for Speed Most Wanted back in 2005, but never mind that. This Need for Speed Most Wanted is in the capable hands of Criterion Games. Read More »

Sherlock Holmes Launches A New Investigation

By Katie Williams | PC News | Jun 1, 2012 9:34 AM | Comment

In a gaming world filled with quirky Dishonoreds and Metro: Last Lights, I was skeptical about the latest gamifying of a series as well-known as Sherlock Holmes. How does the 19th century detective remain relevant to us gun-hungry gamers without employing even the slightest splash of steampunk? This trailer hints at how. Read More »
