E3 is just under 8 weeks away. I can't wait!

In the next few weeks, third parties are going to release the lists of what games will be on display at their booths. I'm hoping that they all have some good Wii U games to show off.

And when people see that the WiiU is like 4 times more powerful than PS3... I cant wait to see all the hate that comes out...

I'm hoping for a good platforming game, from ANY system....those are far and few between these days on consoles

We'll obviously get more WiiU coverage and a lot of folks think that means the 3DS redesign won't be until later, but I hope you're all wrong. I couldn't care less about everything else, I just want the inevitable redesign.

Mario has been overdone this generation. We got Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, New Super Mario Bros Wii, AND Mario 3D Land. I'd prefer they didn't make a Mario game for a bit.

I'm even more eager for E3, not just because of what Nintendo will display, but it will actually give us something worthwhile to discuss. I'm so tired of the rumors that don't really mean anything at this point.

I wish people would stop saying stuff like this. Four times stronger? What does that even mean? It's like saying that its power levels are over 9000. Same concept. Arbitrary use of numbers to describe "power" levels.

And honestly, don't kid yourself. If it was announced to be "four" times stronger, Ninty fanboys would talk just as much **** as the other fanboys. It's what fanboys do.

If that were to somehow happen, it would be embarrassing for the entire Nintendo community. After 6 years of pathetically claiming that graphics don't matter, Nintendo fanboys would have sudden change of heart and be in universal agreement that graphics are very important to gaming. It would be both sad and hilarious to watch that happen.

4X PS3 is what you'd consider a powerhouse? Seriously?

You can choose to ignore Mario games, you know. You don't have to buy them the moment they come out. Hell, you don't have to buy them at all!

Also, 3D Land belongs to a different generation.

Ugh, why do these always have to turn into GRAFIX threads? MOAR POWA does not equal BETTA GRAFIX. More power means better graphics, sound, AI, physics, more enemies on screen at once, more players online at once, more complex level design... Basically more, better and more complex EVERYTHING. Believe it or not, GRAPHICS AREN'T EVERYTHING.

no one said graphics dont matter. they do, but gameplay also matters. and one could argue that they matter more. but its not like nintendo always made weak hardware. wii was the exception, not the rule.

every other gen, they had hardware on par, or better then its competition. and like every other generation, there is going to be a weaker console, and a stronger one. people just dont want to see a gap as large as it was between the hd twins and the wii again. and they wont. next gen is going to be more like the ps2, gc, and xbox in terms of difference between the hardware. everyone is gonna be in the same ballpark.

sure, one of the consoles is gonna be stronger then the others, but not so much that they are worlds apart. there hasnt been a significant leap in grafix that is going to leave anyone behind unless nintendo is dramatically less powerful then the competition which we know isnt gonna be the case this time. they are using modern up to date equipment that will be compatible with the others when they release.

yeah it will be great to see the WiiU games in action, even though they will be on par with 360/ps3 graphicly.

i'm almost positive that we will see games from nintendo and maybe a few third parties that will be better looking then xbox360 or ps3

but its like people seem to forget the start of this gen. remember all the "souped up xbox" comments from people? or the xbox 1.5 comments, etc.. early first gen games at the start of a new gen dont always look leagues better then the previous gen. but look at the games the 360 or ps3 pump out now. waaaay better then the first round of games that released on those systems.

ports from games coming out now from the 360 and ps3, going to the wii-u wont look noticeable better, unless the devs actually TRY to make them look better. but i will not flip out, because better looking games are coming.

but i fully expect nintendo at least to show some good looking games.

I'm not expecting too much this year to be honest. I know Nintendo will be unleashing loads of info/games about the WiiU, but I'm just not that excited for it. Of course this could all change when E3 happens. I suppose its always nice to be pleasantly surprised.

why do you expect them to make a console thats only just as powerful as the 360/ps3? not even a little bit more powerful? remember the wii was the exception to nintendo's consoles, not the rule. is it so hard to believe that they will make a console more powerful then the previous generation, like they have always done? even the wii was stronger then last gen. so by your logic, they are gonna completely go the opposite direction.

People LOVE to ignore this for some odd reason. I've brought it up in the past before. This happens every gen but people conveniently seem to forget it. And like you said and pointed out, it happens with not only nintendo systems either but sony and microsoft as well. Do people really honestly believe launch games of a new system is the best it can do? The only system I can say didn't have a huge increase from launch games was the wii since It wasn't really stronger than the previous gen.

I'am talking about the visuals,physics, and AI here. I think the console on paper will more powerful in some ways to accommodate the extra controller, but the differences in visuals, physics and AI in actual games will be minor

I'd be mildly shocked (oxymoron?) if 2D Mario is not a launch title. NSMB Wii sold a gazillion copies, and SM3D Land was the main reason the 3DS dominated the holiday season. A 2D Mario title will single-handedly assure a monster launch and will continue to sell units for the entire life of the WiiU. It's a no-brainer.

What's your point? Yes, an increase in power would likely improve all of the elements of a game (depending on the talent of the developer). That's not what my post was about though. It's addressing the hypocrisy of many Nintendo fanboys and their rallying cry, "graphics don't matter, gameplay does". That logic is inherently flawed not only for the reasons you mentioned, but because it is a direct reaction to the Wii having outdated hardware when compared to the competition.

I'm using yabhero's post as a poster child for this sort of mentality. Saying "I can't wait to see all the hate that comes out" is the kind of reaction I've been seeing from a lot of posters on this board since E3 last year. Not only has powerful hardware power suddenly become important again (now that Nintendo has it), but there is somehow an inherent pride in the possibility that Nintendo might not only have a powerful to match current generation consoles, but to surpass them. Why are people bragging about the potential of having hardware better than what was released 7 year ago.

Wouldn't surprise me if New Super Mario Bros. Mii was a launch title.

Wow, sometimes I'm surprised with the lack of obvious intelligence. It's the constant bickering about how Nintendo is going to fail and how tired I am of seeing nothing but trolls or flamers do nothing more than post their pubescent anger in these forums in the form of: The Wii U is going to be a vastly underpowered system. Then, if E3 shows that Wii U has power under it's hood, then we'll have another couple of years of Sony/MS fanboys screaming that the Nextbox and PS4 are going to be vastly superior to the Wii U. All this without a shred of evidence or even solid rumor to base it all on. But, then again, the same people spouting this crap and the same fools that can't understand a simple picture. Who'd figure.

I figured enough of us around here are intelligent enough that hand holding wasn't necessary when posting a simple picture. But, then again, it's probably just angry fanboys looking anywhere they can to try and throw cheap punches... ... sigh.

Cutting edge graphics kill creative gameplay and length.

Wii U will come in an age where HD graphics are way more accessible. I am happy the system will be graphically weaker than the PS4/720 while still being able to achieve high quality results in capable hands. Also, less budget towards graphics and more directed to length and gameplay is a YES in my book. I always mention Final Fantasy XIII: "HD towns are expensive". Look at Xenoblade: Hands down, the best world I have tasted this gen.

Between, Skyrim is not really HD. Most of the textures are low resolution. Go read the longtime fans rant on the internet. PC gamers hate towards consoles is nothing compared to 360/PS3ers hate towards Wii'ers.

I agree with Iheart about Mario being overdone. Mario Kart, Mario 3D Land, Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Sports Mix, Mario and Somic Olympics, Mario Party 9, that game that featured Mario in it and other such foolishness all the space of 1/2 years. I mean Mario is the face of gaming (and Nintendo's cash cow) but I can't help but feel that he has been milked to the bone as of recent.

On other boards, both Virus and I have clearly stated or demonstrated excitement for the WiiU. Virus was merely saying that comparing the WiiU to current consoles like the PS3 is moot, since they are two different generations. His post had nothing to due with fanboys, save for the fact it was a response to blattent fanboyism.

As for your picture, what you were saying was clear, a sarcastic "shoot me now." But given it was a response to Virus, there was really no context, and why you were making this statement of "shoot me now," was not entiely clear. From Virus's "Wait until the next Xbox and PS come out, then we'll talk," which was a response to why we shouldn't compare the PS3 to the WiiU, we were to extrapolate (or divine in this case) "Sony/MS fanboys screaming that the Nextbox and PS4 are going to be vastly superior to the Wii U. Sorry. I may have over reacted, but I felt like I was responding to an over reaction myself. The trolls and fanboy comments were more directly targeted at the actual trolls and fanboys that drop into a thread to do nothing more than incite an argument and cause grief. I'm just fed up with month after month of the same topics, sometimes innocently started, that are quickly derailed because of flaming and trolling. The problem is that what started as a simple (poor attempt?) at humor on my part has now placed me in the same category of derailing this topic.

Oh, and what I meant as "obvious intelligence" is intelligence that immediately apparent. To further explain, it means that one may be intelligent, but an outside source might not be able to notice this by their off hand comments.

Yeah, trolls get on everyone's nerves, but what has really been drawing them out lately are all the speculation threads filled with rumors. I really wish people would just ignore the troll posts, or report them for spamming, but some people just can't resist a flame war.
