There was a time when word of a new Star Wars game was reason for celebration. But after a string of disappointments, including the Force Unleashed series and most recently the absurd Han Solo dance-off known as Star Wars Kinect, I can only cross my fingers and hope that LucasArts won't further embarrass itself with a mysterious new project called Star Wars 1313. If you're just now jumping on board the Max Payne train in anticipation of Rockstar's take on the noir shooter, there are two things you need to know: 1) Max's favorite pastime is ventilating gangsters via slow motion dual-wielding dives, and 2) just about everyone Max ever loved received a violent, untimely death. See just how bad things got for Max, and begin to understand why he moves his life to Brazil, in the first issue of the Max Payne 3 digital comic. Read More »
Blizzard's Jay Wilson recently chatted with our friends at IGN about Diablo 3's new insane mode, describing it thusly: "Inferno difficulty is very, very, very hard." Now that that's been clarified, it's time to talk tips on surviving against a legion of demons who shake off your mightiest blows like rain drops. Gird your loins (gird them!) for Diablo 3 Inferno. This will take me awhile to type out as I'm wringing my hands in anticipation. Gimmie a sec... Okay, hands fully wrung. After last week's magazine cover story leak, THQ and Relic made it officially official-like this morning: Company of Heroes 2 is coming in 2013. The 2006 WWII RTS will finally get a full sequel early next year, putting players in command of Russia's Red Army and taking the war to the frosty Eastern Front. Come on inside and let your eyeballs enjoy the first screenshot. Read More »
There are moments where Sniper Elite V2 nails what (I assume) it feels like to be a badass sniper behind enemy lines in World War II. Like sitting in a church tower, picking off enemy soldiers one at a time, and masking rifle shots to coincide with bombs dropping in the distance, or landing a well-placed shot on an enemy tank's fuel tank, sending it up in flames. But all of these moments take place in a fairly confined and linear battlefield as Sniper shuffles you from one spot to another throughout its single-player campaign. Thankfully there are just enough worthwhile multiplayer features that help to break up this tedium. They help to put Sniper among the "popcorn flicks" of summertime games this year: it's mindless fun for a short time. Read More »
How are you? It's a fine day. I'm feelin' good. It's a fine day for feelin' good, and it's probably due in part to the fact that Amazon is now peddling a Double Fine bundle. For a cool ten bucks, you'll receive the excellent brainfaring adventure Psychonauts, with Stacking and Costume Quest as commendably quirky accompaniments. Read More »
A name has been confirmed for the next South Park game. "The Stick of Truth" is vaguely hilarious and slightly suggestive, as is the style of the television show's creators. It's been officially listed on the Xbox Live Marketplace, though the given release date of May 5th 2012 is probably wrong. Unless there's something I haven't been told about. Hey, you haven't already got your grubby hands on it, have you? Read More »
Does anyone else think of a literal, all-too-motivating foot to the behind when they hear the word "Kickstarter?" Probably a good thing that that's not what Kickstarter actually does, otherwise some of our favorite developers would be seriously sore. Anyway, Gabriel Knight creator Jane Jensen, representing her new studio Pinkerton Road, is the latest to have been delivered a metaphorical measure of motivation: adventure-thriller Moebius has reached its Kickstarter goal. Additionally, Jensen announced she will be developing a second new adventure. Read More »

If you've been following this upcoming, futuristic take on the Ghost Recon series, you may have been wondering what exactly a Bodark is. Today's new Future Soldier trailer from Ubisoft now answers the question: the name is taken from a Russian legend of men who choose to become werewolves, tinging the strategic Ghosts' biggest adversary with a frightening raw savagery. There is, of course, some exciting in-game combat footage as well. Click through for the video. Read More »
To mark the beginning of a new month, Indie Royale has busted out the appropriately titled May Hurray bundle. Topping the list of games you'll receive is the excellent Dungeon Defenders, an adorable hodgepodge of the RPG, tower defense, and third-person shooter genres. The bundle's minimum price is currently a very delightful $5 Read More »
It took me way too long to figure out why May the 4th was dubbed "Star Wars Day." (Tip, if you're slow like me: say it out loud, and translate from the lisp.) In celebration, BioWare's docked the price of Star Wars: The Old Republic. If you've been thinking about getting into the MMO's intergalactic funtimes, now's your chance - the offer expires this Sunday. Read More »
It's not the full-length CG movie everybody's been begging Blizzard to make for years, but the Diablo 3: Wrath animated short teased in this behind-the-scenes interview looks fairly cool. Blizzard's lined up some impressive traditional 2D animation talent to make it happen. Read More »
Jetpacks-vs-dinosaurs shooter Orion: Dino Beatdown launched yesterday... in the same sense that North Korea launched a rocket two weeks ago. It's been hit with major connection issues, which is kind of a downer for a multiplayer shooter. Spiral Game Studios CEO David Prassel wrote to GameSpy to confirm the problem and promise a fix.
