Ironclad Reveals Next Game - Sins of a Dark Age
- BERJAYA 2 Comments
Sorry Sins of a Solar Empire fans, the teaser site soada.com wasn't related to Solar Empire at all. Today Irconclad reveals Sins of a Dark Age, an upcoming free-to-play traditional-RTS / action-RTS hybrid game.

According to a summary page included with the announcement players will be able to jump in either as a Commander and take part in a more classic base-builder RTS type role, or that of a Hero who goes out on the frontlines in something similar to the MOBA genre (i.e. Dota 2, League of Legends).

With the free-to-play design in mind, SoaDA will be supported by frequent updates which bring new heroes, commanders, factions, and skins. Ironclad promises that pay-to-win is not part of the design, nor is money needed to avoid any sort of grind.

For more, head on over to the newly launched Sins of a Dark Age website. You can also check out the logo and some other promo media right here at VE.

One More Turn Fever Continues With Civilization V: Gods & Kings
- BERJAYA 1 Comment
Civilization V was sadly missing some of the content that Civilization IV had refined in the franchise, such as religions and espionage. The first full expansion pack for Civilization V called "Civilization V: Gods and Kings" aims to bring some of what was missing back, and then some.

According to the announcement at the 2K Blog, Gods and Kings will indeed bring back religion, espionage, and enhanced diplomacy. 9 new playable civilizations, 9 wonders, 13 buildings, a new religious based city-state type, and three brand spankin' new scenarios have also been revealed. Additionally, Firaxis is claiming that they've even gone back and made a significant rework of the combat system.

You'll be able to get your hands on the Gods and Kings expansion pack for Civilization V sometime later this Spring.

Syndicate Embargo Lifts, Reviews Coming In
- BERJAYA 9 Comments
EA lifted the embargo on Syndicate reviews just moments ago, giving critics their fair shot at praising or panning the FPS reboot of the classic action strategy game by Bullfrog. Only IGN and Destructoid have published their reviews thus far, here's a sample of each:
    IGN - 7.5 / 10

Syndicate hints at a fantastic puzzle meta-game, but relies on bullets flying to get through every level. Where the story walks a familiar road, the cooperative campaign’s tough-but-fun arcade action makes up for the missteps. Though uneven, Syndicate remains a good shooter full of incomplete great ideas. Grabbing three friends and battling for corporate supremacy online is well worth your time, but don’t expect to be wowed by playing alone.
    Destructoid - 6.5 / 10

By all means, go out and enjoy Syndicate. You more than likely shall, because it will provide a solid dose of transient entertainment. It is a game you will never need to play, but you won't feel like you wasted your life if you do. It's a videogame about guns that pretends to be something deeper while striving for nothing more. If you keep that in mind, and you're happy to play along, you'll get what you paid for.

But you won't get anything else.

As a diehard fan of the original series, I just haven't been able to get myself excited about the FPS reboot at all. Have any of you had better luck?

Going Indie: Add FTL To Your Watch List This Year
- BERJAYA 0 Comments
Have you ever wanted to kick yourself for not being in the loop on a game before? Late last year amidst the launch of the big holiday releases the developers of a little indie game called FTL began releasing details and media to the masses to drum up some hype of their own. If you missed it like me, FTL is a rogue-like space exploration / real-time ship simulation game for the PC. In it players explore the universe while managing their spaceship in ways that may not have been seen since the old classic Independence War.

The small number of hands-on previews out there have painted FTL as something that shouldn't be missed under any circumstances. PC Gamer was first and called it amazing more than once, followed later by GameSpy.com who had equally nice things to say. I haven't had any hands on time with it yet, but the trailer gives me a really strong modern day Tradewars vibe (how many of you remember that one?). Yes, that's a huge compliment coming from me.

Check out the trailer below for a sneak peek of your own. Following that if FTL tickles your fancy be sure to bookmark the official webpage too.

Blah... Mad Scientists Never Fail
- BERJAYA 5 Comments
Have you guys heard about the test tube burger? After seeing a local news special on it it got me thinking a bit if I'd be willing to chow down on some lab made beef instead of something that was literally once part of a cow. I'd want to know it was safe first, and then I'd have to make sure it still had the same kind of texture and taste. I've had people in the past try to convince me that veggie and even turkey burgers were equally delicious, but they've been full of shit. It's nearly impossible to match the taste of a juicy beef burger.

So what's been on your play list over the past week? Anyone pick up Alan Wake? I've made my way through part of the game, and am digging it so far. I've also been geeking out over the Total War series again ever since I got some time in with the Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai stand-alone expansion. For whatever reason new Civilization and Total War games put me in Mr. History mode, where I start reading up on and watching documentaries about old school conficts.

Oh and don't forget guys, we're still running on a very tight schedule. We continue to explore our options, and will let you all know what's up as we go along. We know there are issues with the comment system right now, but it's doubtful we'll get much support. Bad timing, I know, but if you do want to communicate direct you're welcome to email me.

That's all for this update folks. Thanks for sticking with us, here's your moment of zen.

Humble Bundle Mojam Going on Live Now
- BERJAYA 6 Comments

BERJAYA

The latest in the line of Humble Bundles is Mojam, where Mjoang is spending all weekend coding a game and streaming it live. Everyone who donates gets the game at the end of jam. The jam has a time limit of 60 hours, so far it looks like they are pulling in around $100k per 10 hours. 100% of these proceeds go to charity, and if the $1 million mark is reached, notch will shave his beard. The rate of donations seems to be much slower than some previous humble bundles. One has to wonder if the prospect of 'buying' an un named quickie project just doesn't have the same appeal.

It is for charity though, so go wild, donate a lot, and check out the live stream here, and check out the announcement video below.

BERJAYA

Happy Friday all, hope you've been having a good week! Not much new for me this week, I've been playing a little more Diablo III beta (in which characters are about to get wiped again), and both LoL and DOTA 2. I have to say that DOTA 2 feels like playing with real guns versus airsoft guns, or more apt, like going back to elementary school when you're in high school. Everything is simple and has bright colors and you have no real death penalty besides missed opportunity cost. I just hope that the current lawsuit against valve doesn't do anything to really de-rail DOTA 2, it is a very good game, I can't wait to see where they go with it for the final release.

I hope everyone had a good Valentines Day this year, and if you were alone on Valentines, I guess you could always try a dating site?
