New York -- Niozake Shange chats with Melvin Van Peebles at a party following the opening of her play, 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuff,' at New York's Booth Theater. Besides writing the play, Miss Shange is one of the cast of seven women appearing in it. Miss Shange's play first found theatrical life in a downtown bar, then moved to two Off-Broadway houses before moving up to Broadway. Melvin Van Peebles has also had a play, Ain't No Way to Die a Natural Death,' on Broadway. (1976)
