From Dust in Steam's Mid-Week Madness Sale
- BERJAYA 3 Comments
Until January 26th you can pick up From Dust for 67% off from Steam. Is it worth the $4.99 USD? I believe it definitely is. From Dust is the kind of game that starts off a bit slow but then sucks you right in. It's makes you its bitch and you thank it daily. But, so far it appears that Ubisoft doesn't plan to support the game further. Initially they had many great sounding DLCs planned. But no word about it since the game's "love it / hate it" launch.

Ninja Gaiden 3 Team Puts Out Their First Dev Diary
- BERJAYA 0 Comments
Here's your chance to get a behind the scenes look at Ninja Gaiden 3. A handful of Team Ninja developers lay down some commentary over gameplay clips in the first entry to the series. My only question is, why couldn't they afford a proper boom mic for the outdoor interviews?

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes - The State Of Our Voodoo Extremities
- BERJAYA 58 Comments
Just wanted to let you all know that due to economic hardships, the budget at Voodoo Extreme was cut entirely yesterday. We've been offered the opportunity to stay on in a volunteer capacity, but the future of VE3D is unknown. Questions come to mind, such as:

  • Can a volunteer staff adequately maintain a site like VE3D while looking for work / or working elsewhere?
  • Will IGN just decide to take the site down?
  • Were they just trying to get rid of us so they could give VE to Greg Miller for Valentine's Day?
  • If a bear shits in the woods does anyone hear it? Which reminds me, I followed a set of coyote tracks on the weekend, it led me to some yote poop.
  • Who's going to make poop jokes?

A lot to think about. For the last 10 years I've worked within the GameSpy, and then IGN network, in one form or another. So I'm thinking of chaining myself to something at the IGN office. Maybe they have a really large Pikachu or something.

If any kind readers want to offer any of us a job (I know, lol) then check the staff list for contacts. And to the other three of you... I love you... inappropriately.

Note: This is not goodbye, we are still going to do everything in our power to keep things going.

Activision Gets Serious About Promoting Call Of Duty ELITE

You know, I don't think we've ever seen a promotional trailer like this for a multiplayer / community enhancement service like Call of Duty ELITE. Who else here thinks that Electronic Arts should put together a Battlelog trailer just to poke fun?

Notes From San Francisco
- BERJAYA 15 Comments

BERJAYA

If you are reading this then I’ve probably successfully arrived in San Francisco for the Kalypso Press event. However, there are a few possibilities that I have foreseen which could have prevented me from carrying out this mission.

First, if you happen to hear news about any flights imploding en route to SFO, then I might be dead. If this is the case, I swear I had nothing to do with it. Furthermore, I demand that Jube’s dogs are immediately brought before the International Criminal Court. Demand justice, my compañeros!

Alternatively, I might have been viciously attacked outside the hotel and thrown into an open manhole. In the endless darkness of the sewers, we can assume that I fought valiantly against the subterranean mole peoples until their sheer numbers overwhelmed me, and I was devoured. That one was probably my fault.

A final scenario is that I might inadvertently express an opinion that violates the unspoken morays of the city. It’s possible that, as a result of such utterances, activists may blockade my hotel room. I’m hoping that they will restrain themselves to writing angry blog posts instead.

I will endeavor to avoid these possible scenarios, and provide you with a detailed After Action Report once the conference is complete.

Blast From The Past: Deus Ex: Invisible War Post-Mortem
- BERJAYA 5 Comments
Before Deus Ex: Human Revolution came out and showed the world that a Deus Ex game could actually exist during the Call of Duty era there was Deus Ex: Invisible War, a game that could fairly be described as a complete and utter failure. Back in 2008 Harvey Smith did a little postmortem on the game during Warren Spector's Master Class at the University of Texas. Smith claims that just about everything went wrong during development including his own personal life, the team chemistry, and even the technology powering Invisible War.

Take A Peek At An Upcoming Indie Puzzle-Platformer Called "Vessel"
- BERJAYA 3 Comments
The developer of an upcoming platform puzzle game called "Vessel" put together some gameplay footage for IGN's Youtube channel, and was kind enough to include some commentary as well. In Vessel the players takes control of a virtual adventurer and his magical squirt cannon. Said adventurer uses said cannon to suck and squirt liquids, and in combination with his seeds he can automate the liquid into life forms. The video explains the process a little better, and if any of this interests you Vessel is scheduled for launch on PC on March 1st.

DCS: P-51D Mustang Announced, Online Compatible With Warthog & Black Shark
- BERJAYA 3 Comments
Yo joystick jockey, put down that copy of DCS: A-10C Warthog (one of my own Editor's Choice games of 2011) for a second, and listen up. Eagle Dynamics has revealed the first of it's new "Flying Legends" series aircraft, which will get all the love it deserves in the upcoming 2012 simulation DCS: P-51D Mustang. If you're into more modern birds, don't fret. Mustang is being developed concurrently with the currently unannounced more modern fixed wing aircraft.

The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics will release their next Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) aircraft in 2012: the legendary P-51D Mustang. The Mustang was among the best and most well-known fighters used by the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Possessing excellent range and manoeuvrability, the P-51 operated primarily as a long-range escort fighter and also as a ground attack fighter-bomber with bombs, rockets, and machine guns. The Mustang served in nearly every combat zone during WWII, and later fought in the Korean War.

The DCS: P-51D Mustang will be modelled at the same exacting detail as the existing Ka-50 Black Shark and A-10C Warthog Digital Combat Simulation (DCS) aircraft and it will be online compatible with them. Based on many years of restoring, flying and maintaining Mustangs, The Fighter Collection brings its unique ability to portray this aircraft in its full glory.

The P-51D will be the first aircraft in the Flying Legends series that focuses on historical aircraft that have set benchmarks in combat aviation. This series of simulations demonstrates the broad scope of DCS simulation environment and its ability to introduce aircraft from all eras into a common simulation environment. While the P-51D started as an internal technology demonstration, it has evolved into an independent product that adds an all new dimension to the DCS universe. The development of the P-51D and other Flying Legends series aircraft definitely does not preclude the continued development of modern aircraft.

TERA's Castanic Race
- BERJAYA 13 Comments
The Castanic race of TERA are clever, skilled hot-tempered and opportunist. Originally one of the clans of devas, the castanics fled their pitiless goddess and the necromantic overlords of the devan empire. Since that time, Clan Castanic has forged its own destiny, lived by its own dark code of honor, and carved out its place in history. You can read more about the Castanics here

The Morning Juberish
- BERJAYA 24 Comments
Hi-Ho! How's you? The weekend was kind of decent. Had a blast chasing my dogs and a friend's dog with a remote control rat and a tarantula. I laughed so hard I peed in my pants a bit. Watched the whole first season of Being Human. Kicked a kid for shits and giggles. Finally rolled a character in SW:TOR, got to about level 6. I had way more fun when I played the closed beta for a day. I think it's down to the lightsaber. Last time I was a Jedi Knight and I had a long glowing lightsaber that was too sexy for my shirt. Now I'm a Sith Inquisitor and I have this shitty little training saber and it's not all lit up light a Christmas tree. I think I need to re-roll a Jedi.

I have 84 days to decide if TOR sucks or not. Funny story last week. Apparently BioWare unloaded a shitty update for TOR, or Tortanic as some people are calling it. The patch unbalanced the game drastically according to Kirk Sigmon, and as a result many decided to cancel their account. However, when they went to do so the cancel subscription button was missing. /LOL. Burned. If you have any interest then read the article, it's pretty entertaining.

Daehawk sent this next bit over last week and it's awesome, but terrifying at the same time. It's Beavis and Butthead in real life, designed by makeup effects artist Kevin Kirkpatrick.
