MakingOf sits down with animator David Silverman in this exclusive interview. Silverman is best known for his work on the animated television show ‘The Simpsons,’ and is responsible for creating most of the “rules” of drawing the shows principle characters. When discussing his earliest influences, he credits Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner, ‘Rocky and Bullwinkle,’ and the comics in the newspaper. Thinking back on loving cartoons as a kid, Silverman says, “The inspirations were many.” Silverman goes on to talk about his work on ‘The Simpsons,’ the most rewarding part of being a director, and his favorite bit of advice from the film ‘Citizen Kane,’ “It’s no trick to make a lot of money, if all you want to do is make a lot of money.”
