A new survival horror FPS called PSISHOCK has been announced.

PC gamers, meet PSISHOCK; a first person horror adventure that is focusing on survival, story and immersion. PSISHOCK is developed by Serygala and is powered by the FPSC engine. The game has been in development for sometime and its creator has released today some new screenshots to show off his progress. To be honest, it looks quite similar to Doom 3. Contrary to iDs little gem though, PSISHOCK features higher-resolution textures, which is a plus in our books. It looks promising and since it comes from a single guy, it really deserves your attention.

Artesia is a ranged intelligence hero with low-cooldown and low-manacost spells. She can rain down a deluge of arcane magics on enemies, damaging nearby heroes, as well as heal and support her team in times of need. With no escape mechanism, she'll need to focus on some defensive items early game, such as Steamboots or Plated Greaves. Mana Battery, Grave Locket, Ring of the Teacher, and Blood Chalice are all great items to pick up on Artesia for early game survivability and mana regeneration. Items that increase her maximum mana pool and regeneration best benefit her mid-game, allowing chain casting for long periods of time, such as Nullstone and Bloodstone. If you find yourself against a team who deal physical-oriented damage, Frostfield Plate is a great pickup. Spellshards will increase her damage output and mana regeneration, but the cooldown reduction on her spells will be almost unnoticeable. End-game items, Kuldra's Sheepstick or Hellflower, will help her survivability, mana regeration, and offensive prowess.

Imagine Skyrim on that thing >_> Wait, that looks like Skyrim already...
To be perfectly honest I never liked doing those Game of the Year articles. People's taste in games varies enough that I felt like I was trying to tell them who to date. With that in mind I decided to go with a list of 10 games I enjoyed from the past year and ask what your top 10 are?
Noticeably absent from the list is Battlefield 3. Origin serves as always-on DRM, I even got booted from the solo campaign, and Battlelog is just complete garbage. Nice job screwing up a perfectly good multiplayer shooter by DICE and the greedy dickheads at EA.
Complex is reporting that Sonic 4: Episode 2 will be receiving a new graphics and physics engine. Also, Sonic's sidekick Tails will be making a return.
Quote:
SEGA brand manager Ken Balough stopped by Gamespot's offices to reveal the first teaser for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2, the big reveal being that the hedgehog's erstwhile sidekick, Tails, will be making a (hopefully) triumphant return. Of course, this was revealed by Balough's artfully shaped and colored beard before the video even played, but so what?
"We listened tremendously during [Sonic 4:] Episode 1," Balough said. "There's going to be a lot of really positive changes and we think the fans are going to be really happy." He explained that they're trying to get closer in feel to oldschool Sonic games, despite employing new graphics and physics engines. For example, Sonic will no longer stick to walls or uncurl when going uphill.
"They may not sound like a big deal, but when you're playing Sonic and you're so used to the way the Genesis games felt, it's a big step to get closer to that Genesis feel," he said.
As we close out 2011 and everyone begins posting their "Best of" lists, here is my list of the Best Comics of 2011. These are the comics I purchased to add to my own collection and those that kept me coming back every month.
Runner's up would be: OMAC, Unwritten, I, Zombie, Crossed Psychopath, Neonomicon & Jonah Hex prior to The New 52.
Author Joe Hill ends up with two titles in my Top 10 and you have to love a new Hellraiser comic book authorized by Hellraiser creator Clive Barker. Dark Horse continued their legacy of killer Star Wars titles and I know that they have been breaking Emabulator's bank every week.
With the launch of DC's The New 52 it was a pretty good year for comics and for publishers DC, Image and Dark Horse. Marvel seems to be stuck in the 80's era of mega-crossovers and I dropped every Marvel title from my list during 2010/2011 mostly due to the pretty lame Fear Itself storyline (Female Red Skull becomes Thor) and the entire .1 series of comics.
Both Marvel & DC have gone digital day-and-date and you can now get their comics digitally on your iPad or iPhone via the Comixology app.
This upcoming effort by Anonymous is in protest of Sony's support of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). Interestingly, Microsoft and Nintendo are also supporters of this Act but aren't targets. Meanwhile, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift are.
GamesRadar has posted a preview of Piranha Games' highly anticipated mech simulation, MechWarrior Online.
Quote:
Were focused on using the PC and its input devices to the max, continues Ekman. Were going to allow players to customize those devices however they see fit, and were going to be supporting those devices as much as possible. You can expect the mech sim to support full keyboard and mouse and joystick setups from the start.
But that doesnt mean that MechWarrior Online will just be a carbon copy of its predecessors. The IP is nearly 30 years old and Piranha Games is looking at how to evolve the MechWarrior experience with new technology while retaining the essence of what they loved most about the series. Previous MechWarrior games were very open, explains Ekman, adding, You could see enemies coming from great distances. But now we are able to make the battles really personable and have them get up close and fight in detailed city environments detailed landscapes. But its not just about making the game look better. Its also about bringing the series more strategic and teamwork elements to the frontline of battles and cutting out the things that arent so much fun today.
All Zombies Must Die! from the folks at Doublesix is a stylish top-down shooter, boosted by features of a co-op role-playing game. Jack immediately suspects that he's trapped in a video game ("If that's what passes for a boss, I'm going to own this!") but his dubious ex-girlfriend isn't so sure. The game is filled with humorous quips and insider gaming jokes, but don't mistake this challenging adventure for a mindless shooter.
Once Jack clears out the center of town and sets up a base of operations, it's time for some new weapons. The campaign begins as you undertake quests to unlock "recipes" to upgrade your weapons or create bizarre new ones, and gain experience to level up your character. Other characters such as the Girl, the Mad Scientist and the Alien soon join your party, and you can switch characters between quests to take advantage of their unique abilities and weapons.

Developer Flying Cafe has announced their new game called Cradle, a sci-fi adventure set in the Mongolian hills.
Quote:
Developer Flying Cafe has announced a new game exclusively for PC called Cradle, which seems to be an adventure game involving a mysterious adventure park in the middle of Mongolia and a feminine robot companion.
According to the official site, Cradle is "a science-fiction first-person quest with freedom of movement," and judging from the teaser trailer released by Flying Cafe, the game seems heavily inspired by Myst, the classic mid-1990's adventure game that revolutionized multimedia gaming.
The story itself revolves around the relations between the player and a female robot, as the game begins in a yurt in the middle of nowhere - more precisely, in the desert hills of Mongolia. Once the player restores the function of his companion, the duo set out to solve the mystery of a neglected entertainment park found not far from the yurt.

For a good holiday laugh, check out Penny-Arcade where Gabe goes toe-to-toe with a PR Rep for Ocean Marketing, a company doing publicity for the above gaming abomination, the Avenger game controller. A device obviously designed for those gamers who are too stupid to understand what buttons are for.
No, I'm not linking to Ocean Marketing or the Avenger controller. I think they got enough free PR out of this travesty.
Update: The Ocean Marketing guy is "Sorry" and Gabe says he is "Sorry he got caught." Check out Penny-Arcade for the news.
I was recently invited to be a part of a animated Christmas Episode from the Game Chasers, a popular YouTube channel. This is a festive video with a bunch of YouTube celebrities and includes tons of retro game references and nods to 80's & 90's pop culture. There's even a Metal Jesus "reveal" at the end, so check it out!!
The creator Billy took over 350 hours to animate the episode. We all individually recorded our lines and he edited everything together! Impressive!

USA Today has an article announcing that Star Wars: The Old Republic is already over 1 Million players strong. (I have read 1.5 Million in other articles.) Here are some force sensitive statistics on the player base,
They prefer the Dark Side of the Force. Of the more than 3.8 million characters created, there are 550,000 Sith Warriors and 510,000 Jedi Knights.
They have logged 28 million in-game hours roughly equivalent to watching all six Star Wars movies, two million times.
They average more than five hours a day playing the game.
They have killed more than two billion non-player characters in the eight days since early game access began.
