Mayor Michael Nutter sounds off on his first term in office and looks ahead to a new year and another stint as Philly’s commander-in-chief. Nutter talks candidly about a range of topics including his easy win in the November election, his handling of Occupy Philly, the biggest challenges facing the city heading into 2012 and the issues that keep him up at night.
Jutting her jaw out and writhing manically, Kiera Knightley makes a ferocious entrance in David Cronenberg’s latest little bit of perversity. As Sabina Spielrein, a patient suffering from hysteria, Knightley’s heavily eroticized, larger-than-life performance threatens to obliterate the postcard scenery and upend the fussy period detail of her pre-WWI Zurich sanitarium. Which is, of course exactly the point.
A heaping helping of macaroni, all stringy and rich with fontina, pecorino and mozzarella, tossed with herbs and breadcrumbs, is baked in the pizza oven covered by a protective cap of dough. When it’s done, the entire smoky, steamy construction is flipped over, the bowl removed, and voila! The Birra bowl: Mac and cheese in a pizza-dough vessel. What’s not to love?
