B&W Deck-Clearing Photoblogging

Alrighty, this is the last of the South Carolina pics (taken immediately post-nature-hike), so I should be ready to post some NJ & NYC pics soon.

BERJAYA
Very lonely parking lot.

BERJAYA
Air-raid sirens.

BERJAYA
Mmm… barbed wire…

No, we did not go hiking on an army base…

Take My Leave… Please

More leaves, just because spork likes them so much. Maybe one more South Carolina post after this one, and then onto NYC photos… which I will hopefully have processed by then.

BERJAYA
Backlit in black & white.

BERJAYA
Backlit ivy.

BERJAYA
I thought this one was almost alarming.

BERJAYA
And I found this one… strangely arousing for some reason. Posted by Picasa

Leafy Photoblogging

I’m just about to head out to take some NYC pics, so here are some very not-NYC pics in the meantime:

BERJAYA
I liked the stark lighting on these.

BERJAYA
I liked the funky shadow.

BERJAYA
More holly, looking very geometrical.

Airport Natureblogging

VICTORY IS MINE!!!

*ahem*

Sorry. I, ah, scored the only table at the airport food court with a power outlet. I’m… an enormous geek.

Anyway, this is not actually photos of Nature at the airport, merely photos of Nature posted from the airport. And you shall see once again why Nature photography really is not my thing…

BERJAYA
Life from Death, or some kind of cosmic Wheel-Of-Life stuff like that.

BERJAYA
Okay, reflections I can do. I like reflections.

BERJAYA
Bark! Barkbarkbarkbarkbarkbark!!!

BERJAYA
Holly. I think this is some kinda seasonal thing. Posted by Picasa

Almost-Nature-Trail B&W Photoblogging

The shadowy and mysterious Codename V. was kind enough to indulge me on a photo hike so I could attempt to hone my near-nonexistent nature photography skills. Needless to say, I dawdled for a while in the parking lot, which was a lot closer to my natural element…

BERJAYA
The back of a scoreboard, I think.

BERJAYA
Biiiiig tire. I liked the shadows from the fence on it.

BERJAYA
Creatureless bleachers.

BERJAYA
Is it… supposed to be sticking up from the ground like that, or has there been an awful lot of erosion here? Posted by Picasa

More Creepy Cemetery Photoblogging

I found a few more photos from the creepy gothic cemetery which (hopefully) don’t totally suck…

BERJAYA
Nobody dies it like Sarah Lee…

Yes, I’m going to Hell.

BERJAYA
Lines between the Reid.

BERJAYA
Civil War era, I think. And not in good shape.

It looks like a statue of some kind of caped and hooded person, but it’s actually an urn draped with a blanket. Posted by Picasa

Beauty Botanical Photoblogging

Okay, one last attempts at some beauty shots from the botanical gardens.

Please bear in mind that I have no idea what I’m talking about.

BERJAYA
Just so we’re clear on this, I have no idea what any flowers are called. Tulips, maybe? Idunno. I’ll just call them “Purple Flower Thingies.”

BERJAYA
I think someone may have said these are forget-me-nots, but I… well…

BERJAYA
Baby ferns! I think.

BERJAYA
Some kind of, um, white flowers…

Are ya feelin’ educated yet?

BERJAYA

Creepy B&W Cemetery Blogging

Because cemeteries aren’t just about creepy angels.

BERJAYA
I’m begging here, please at least remove the price tag from the fake stained glass…

BERJAYA
I thought this seemed kinda spooky, but maybe I just have issues.

BERJAYA
Anyone else get kind of an Edward Gorey vibe here?

Mmm… Bulbous… Posted by Picasa

Botanical Photoblogging

Some more… botanical pictures from the botanical gardens. Trying to take my mind off things a bit.

BERJAYA
I generally try to avoid backlighting, but sometimes one has to make exceptions.

BERJAYA
Flowers, or possibly space aliens.

Completely-Missing-The-Point-Of-The-Botanical-Gardens Photoblogging

I took pictures of flowers and nature stuff, I swear! I’ll totally post them… at some point.

BERJAYA
Ceiling fan in kind of an open shed thingy. There were soda machines, but you’ll just have to take my word for it.

BERJAYA
Some sort of valve. I’m not entirely sure what it does, but I like shiny metal things. And rusty metal things. And not-entirely-shiny-or-rusty metal things.

Creepy Cemetery Angel Blogging

The shadowy and mysterious Codename V. was kind enough to take me to the Creepy Gothic Cemetery, and point me in the general direction of the Creepy Gothic Cemetery Angel. I didn’t completely nail it, but I think I did okay.

BERJAYA
Clearly, a pensive and broody Creepy Cemetery Angel Of Mystery…

Be Careful What You Ask For B&W Photoblogging

So NYMary wants more rust than rustic? Fine, I can do that.

Some more exotic wildlife from the botanical gardens:

BERJAYA
Um, black & white steamshovel thing.

BERJAYA
Close-up inside the treads of B&W steamshovel thing.

Wildlife Photoblogging II

More fun with wildlife!

BERJAYA
Why a duck?

BERJAYA
My sources advised me that this was a copperhead, and that I would be wise not to get any closer.

BERJAYA
How you doin’?

Wildlife Photoblogging I

The shadowy and mysterious Codename V. was kind enough to take me to a local botanical garden, so I got some pictures of critters, flowers, leaves, construction equipment, and that sort of thing. I figured I’d start with some of the critters:

BERJAYA
Welcome to… Turtle Island!
(Gamera is really neat, Gamera is made of meat…)

BERJAYA
Apparently bumblebees are camera-shy. As soon as I draw a… beed on one, it darts away. This was the best pic I could get of its majestic flight. I wasn’t entirely sure if it was acceptable, but I obtained approval from a Licensed Bee Quality Inspector.

BERJAYA
The bumblebees are a bit easier to photograph when they’re busy eating, or harvesting pollen, or whatever it is that bees do. Now, butterflies, on the other hand…

Belated Travelblogging

I have an abundance of photos from South Carolina to get out there, now that I’ve finally finished processing them. Didn’t really get any Breathtaking Natural Beauty shots, unless you count kudzu, but I think I still did okay (frankly, I probably wouldn’t know what to do with the Breathtaking Natural Beauty if I ever did see it…).

BERJAYA
Spartanburg’s premiere wrestling academy wants YOU! Unless you’re boring.

BERJAYA
D’oh!!!

Seriously, I didn’t know there was money in boring. Although, come to think of it, the ability to be directionally boring could come in really handy at parties.
